One of the things I sometimes say to clients is that we all need places where we can be honest.

Places where we don’t have to have the answers.

Places where we can reflect, process, and make sense of what’s going on in our lives.

That belief doesn’t stop when I leave the therapy room.

As part of my professional practice, I have regular supervision and ongoing personal reflection. These aren’t just professional requirements; they’re things I genuinely value.

Because I don’t believe wellbeing comes from pushing through endlessly.

It comes from paying attention to ourselves.

For me, that includes good sleep, exercise, time with family and friends, and making sure there are things in life that bring joy, connection, and perspective.

It’s something I encourage in my clients, and something I try to model myself.

After all, counselling isn’t about becoming a different person.

It’s about learning how to care for the person you already are.

If you’d like to explore counselling, I offer sessions in Shrewsbury and online across the UK.

People often ask therapists how we cope with listening to difficult stories every day.

The truth is, we don't do it alone.

As a therapist, I have regular professional supervision - and my supervisor is genuinely my safe haven.

It's a non-judgemental space where I can talk openly about my process and the weight of the work we carry.

Together we look at my work from every angle: what's happening for the client, what's happening in me, the relationship between us, and the wider picture around it all. He brings his own experience to it, and more than anything, he gives me the confidence to believe in myself and take chances in my practice.

Therapists are human too. We experience stress, loss, and difficult periods like everyone else. Having our own space for reflection helps us stay present and effective for the people we work with.

Outside the therapy room, I fill my cup in simpler ways: time with my husband, children, and parents, catching up with friends, running and the gym, and reading - a lifelong passion. Therapy is one part of a full and balanced life, not the whole of it.

I often encourage clients to look after their wellbeing in ways that work for them. It would feel strange not to do the same myself.

If you're considering therapy and would like to know more about how I work, I'd be happy to talk. Do get in touch at the link below -->

We often ask people how they’re doing.

But how often do we stop and ask ourselves the same question?

Not the automatic answer.

The honest one.

Mental wellbeing isn’t about being happy all the time. It’s about understanding what we need, recognising when we’re struggling, and giving ourselves permission to seek support when we need it.

I’ve shared some thoughts on this in my latest blog:

Not all loneliness comes from being physically alone.

Sometimes it comes from feeling like nobody really understands what you’re carrying.

You might be the person everyone relies on. The one who keeps going. The one who listens to everyone else’s problems.

But who listens to yours?

Many people spend years feeling disconnected from the people around them, even when they’re surrounded by family, friends, or colleagues.

And over time, that can become exhausting.

Therapy offers something different. A space where you don’t have to put on a brave face, minimise your feelings, or worry about being a burden.

Just a space where you can be heard.

If loneliness has become a bigger part of your life than you’d like it to be, I’d be happy to talk.

I offer counselling in Shrewsbury and online across the UK.

One of the hardest things about struggling emotionally is how quickly people expect you to “move on.”

From grief.
From trauma.
From difficult relationships.
From experiences that changed you deeply.

But healing doesn’t usually happen in a straight line.

Sometimes people need space to revisit things slowly, safely, and without feeling rushed or judged for where they are.

That’s often where therapy can help.

Around 1 in 7 couples in the UK experience fertility difficulties.

Yet many people going through fertility struggles describe feeling incredibly alone.

Friends and family often don’t know what to say.

Conversations become awkward.

Announcements that should feel joyful can bring unexpected sadness.

And much of the grief remains invisible to everyone else.

Whether you’re navigating IVF, miscarriage, pregnancy loss, unexplained infertility, or coming to terms with a future that looks different from the one you imagined, your feelings deserve space.

You don’t have to carry them by yourself.

Therapy can provide a place to talk honestly about the grief, anger, uncertainty, hope, and disappointment that often accompany fertility journeys.

If you’re looking for support, I offer counselling in Shrewsbury and online across the UK.

Mental wellbeing isn’t something we tend to think about until we’re struggling.

But often, the signs appear long before we reach a crisis point.

Feeling disconnected from yourself.

Losing interest in things you once enjoyed.

Finding it harder to cope with everyday challenges.

Or simply feeling that life has become more difficult than it used to be.

I’ve written a short reflection on mental wellbeing, why it matters, and why paying attention to ourselves before things become overwhelming can make a real difference.

You can read it here:

I’d be interested to hear which part resonates most with you.

1 in 4 adults in England live with chronic pain - and many are grieving far more than just the pain itself.

In one UK survey, 80% of people with chronic pain said they hide their condition from others, often because they fear judgement or not being believed.

Chronic pain is often talked about physically. Much less often do we talk about the grief, loneliness, and identity loss that can come with it.

1 in 7 couples experience fertility struggles in the UK. Around 1 in 4 pregnancies ends in miscarriage. And yet so much of this grief is still carried quietly. Fertility grief is often one of the quietest forms of grief people carry.

There’s no clear script for it.
No obvious way the world knows how to respond.

People may not see the appointments, the waiting, the hope, the disappointment, or the emotional exhaustion that can come with trying to build a family.

And because it’s so rarely talked about openly, many people go through it feeling incredibly alone.

Therapy can offer a space where you don’t have to minimise any of that.

A space where the grief, uncertainty, anger, sadness, or numbness around fertility struggles can be spoken about honestly - without judgement or pressure to stay positive.

I work with people in Shrewsbury and online across the UK, including those navigating fertility struggles, pregnancy loss, miscarriage, and involuntary childlessness.

If this feels familiar, I offer a free 20-minute introductory call - just a conversation, with no pressure.

A lot of people come to therapy worried they’ll say the wrong thing.

Or that they’ll be expected to explain everything perfectly straight away.

That isn’t how I work.

You don’t need to arrive with a clear story, a plan, or the “right” words.

Sometimes people come because they’re grieving.
Sometimes because they feel anxious, overwhelmed, lonely, or stuck.
And sometimes because something in life just doesn’t feel like it fits anymore.

My role isn’t to judge you or tell you who you should be.

I offer a calm, confidential space where we can explore things together at your pace - including the things that may have felt difficult to say anywhere else.

I work with people in person in Shrewsbury and online across the UK.

If you’ve been thinking about therapy but feel unsure where to start, I offer a free 20-minute introductory call first - just a conversation, with no pressure or obligation.
