If you've tried to logic your way out of self-criticism and it hasn't worked, that's not a personal failing. Arguing with a critical voice usually just gives it more airtime.

Part 3 looks at what actually shifts it and it isn't willpower.

Swipe through, then try this in the comments: take one thought that's been loud this week, and rewrite it in the voice of someone who's actually on your side.

The job you didn't apply for. The message you drafted, then deleted. The idea you had in the meeting, that someone else said five minutes later.

None of those felt like fear at the time. They felt like being realistic.

Part 2 looks at what that voice actually costs — not in one dramatic moment, but in all the small edits it makes to your life before you've noticed they've happened.

Swipe through, then tell me: what's one thing you talked yourself out of this year that, looking back, you probably shouldn't have?

Nobody sits a toddler down and teaches them self-criticism. It arrives quietly, somewhere between what was said and what wasn't.

This is Part 1 of a 3-part series on that voice: where it comes from, what it costs when it's left unchecked, and how to actually work with it.

Swipe through, then tell me in the comments: what's the first version of that voice you remember? Not what it says now. The original one.

Save this post, you'll want it for Parts 2 and 3.

Your pattern isn't going anywhere on its own.

You know the one. The relationship that keeps landing in the same place. The job where you play the same role, no matter what the title says. The way you talk to yourself when something goes wrong.

This October, I'm running a closed, 12-week online therapy group: a space to look at these patterns together, and start understanding where they come from.

12 weeks | Mondays, 6:30–8:30pm
Online via Zoom
19 October 2026 – 18 January 2027 (break over Christmas and New Year)
Maximum 8 people
£35 per session, paid in blocks of 4 (£140 per block)

A screening call comes first. We'll talk about what you're bringing, and whether this group is the right fit for you.

If you're ready to stop circling the pattern and start understanding it, message me to arrange your screening call.

That's the series; the "why," the "how it works," and now, the practical bit.

Joining starts with a screening call. That's not a formality, it's how we work out together whether a process group is the right fit for what you're bringing right now, and whether the timing's right.

Group work isn't the right starting point for everyone, and part of my job is making sure it's a good fit before you commit to 12 weeks alongside seven other people.

If that sounds like the right next step, get in touch to arrange yours. Details on the group are all in the graphic above.

Last one in the series and the practical bit.

The group starts in October: Mondays, 6:30–8:30pm, online, £35 a session, max 8 people. Closed group, so once it starts, that's the group for all 12 weeks.

If you've read all three parts and something's still sitting with you, that's usually worth a conversation rather than a decision made alone. No pressure either way send a message if you want to talk it through before committing.

Link in bio, or DM me directly.

Part 2 of the series take a look at what actually happens once a group is running.

Most people picture something unstructured. In practice it's the opposite: the more structure underneath, the more freedom there is to actually be in the room rather than managing it.

That's true of most groups, therapy or otherwise a five-a-side team, a family, a work meeting all run on unspoken rules about who talks, who defers, who smooths things over. Ever caught yourself doing the same thing in more than one of those?

Part 3 next -> what people take from this work, and how to join the group starting in October.

People can describe their patterns really well in one-to-one work. Name them, explain them, trace exactly where they came from.

Then sit in a room with other people and do the exact thing they just described.

That's not a contradiction, insight and practice are two different skills, and only one of them needs other people to be in the room.

Starting a short series this week on what group therapy actually involves, and what's different about doing it online through a Transactional Analysis lens. Swipe through 👇

Have you done group work before, or only ever one-to-one?

Curious what brought you to one over the other, drop it in the comments.

Therapy is one of the strangest things you’ll ever choose to do on purpose.

You sit in a room with a stranger once a week and tell them things you’ve never told anyone else. You nod along to words like “psychodynamic” with absolutely no idea what they mean. You spend the first ten minutes wondering what normal people do with their hands. And somewhere around minute 23, the small talk runs out and the real thing quietly sits down in the middle of the room.

It’s meant to feel a little odd. That’s kind of the point.
Underneath all the awkwardness, you’re clearing out a loft you didn’t know was this full, a few cobwebs, some surprises, and at least one box you forgot you were even carrying.

Messy. Unexpected. Occasionally uncomfortable. Usually worth it.

Which bit made you laugh (or wince) the hardest? 👇 Tag someone who needs to see this before they finally book that first session.
