Louise our nutritional therapist has shared this to help you understand who is best for the support you need.

What is the difference between a nutritional therapist, a dietitian and a nutritionist?

A group of us within the nutritional therapy profession are sharing this infographic (kindly put together by a colleague) to bring greater clarity to the different roles, and to bring awareness of these differences, not to suggest that one profession is superior to another.

It follows a recent BDA article that, in our view, did not accurately represent the training or scope of practice of a registered nutritional therapist.

Each profession brings a different combination of training, skills and experience. Dietitians, nutritionists and nutritional therapists may sometimes work in similar areas, but our roles are not interchangeable. There will be situations in which a dietitian is the most appropriate professional, others where a registered nutritionist is best placed to help, and others where the personalised, therapeutic approach of a nutritional therapist may be particularly valuable.

As a CNHC-registered nutritional therapist and BANT member, I believe the public deserves clear, balanced information so that people can make an informed choice about the support they need.

This comparison is intended to support that understanding.

Feeling like your legs or feet are swollen and uncomfortable with the summer heat? It’s a very common complaint called summer water retention.

While drinking plenty of water is essential, the discomfort can linger. At Osteo & Therapy Hub, we believe in proactive health!

Here are five key ways you can actively help reduce swelling and improve circulation:

✨ 1. Elevate: Prop your feet up above your heart for 15-20 minutes a day.
💧 2. Hydrate: Drinking water helps release fluid. Don’t cut back!
🚶‍♂️ 3. Move: Engage your calf muscles with consistent walking.
🥗 4. Balance: Focus on potassium-rich foods like avocado and bananas.
🤲 5. Massage: Consider manual therapy or specialized massage to clear fluid buildup.

If you are struggling with persistent summer swelling, our experienced practitioners in Chislehurst & Sidcup offer specialized treatments to restore balance and movement.

👟 Summer Foot Pain? The Danger of Lighter Shoes | Osteo Therapy Hub

As the weather has warmed up in Sidcup, many of us have packed away the heavy winter boots and slipping into flip-flops, sandals, or lightweight canvas shoes. While your feet might welcome the breeze, this sudden shift in footwear can trigger a wave of seasonal foot, ankle, and lower back pain.

At Osteo Therapy Hub, we are seeing a major spike in conditions like Plantar Fasciitis (heel pain) and Achilles tendonitis at this time of year.

⚠️ Why Lighter Shoes Cause Foot Pain

Most summer footwear lacks structural support. Switching abruptly to flat, unsupportive shoes causes:

Lack of Arch Support: Puts immense strain on the plantar fascia ligament.

Poor Shock Absorption: Hard pavements (like walking down Sidcup High Street) send direct impact shock up into your ankles, knees, and lower back.

Altered Gait: Flip-flops force your toes to "grip" the shoe, altering how you walk and straining your calf muscles.

📍 Steps to Pain-Free Summer Mobility

You don’t have to give up your summer footwear entirely. Transition gradually, look for sandals with contoured arches, and avoid walking long distances in unsupportive shoes—whether you're strolling through Foots Cray Meadows or commuting.

If foot pain or structural strain is stopping you from enjoying the sunshine, our expert team can help realign your gait and relieve the tension.
