Hi everyone, I wanted to share a little update. Unfortunately, I’m going to have to step away from the markets for the time being.
I’ve recently been diagnosed with Degenerative Disc Disease affecting every single disc throughout the whole of my spine, alongside a few other ongoing health conditions I already live with such as Endometriosis & IBS among others.
I’m currently experiencing a severe flare-up, which I’ve been advised could last for weeks or even months.
At the moment, I’m unable to do many of the things involved in running our market stall, including lifting and carrying heavy equipment, setting up and packing down, and standing for long periods.
I’m being regularly assessed by my doctor and am awaiting further investigations, so I’m really hoping things improve. However, at this stage, I don’t know when I’ll be able to return or whether I’ll be able to continue doing markets in the same capacity.
Louie is also needed at home for now to help care for me, get me up & down, assist me with walking, washing, dressing, caring for our 7 year old daughter and all the daily life things, all around his main 9-5 job.
We are genuinely gutted, as we have really enjoyed being part of the markets, getting to know everyone, and meeting our regular customers. We didn’t want to simply disappear without explaining what was happening.
For now, I need to focus on getting this flare-up under control and working with my doctors to manage everything longer term.
This does mean that Louie and I can put more time into growing the online & wholesale side of our businesses, which thankfully is something I can continue to be involved with from home while managing my health. It also means we get some much needed family time back with our daughter at weekends too, so it isn't all sad!
Louie will be holding our last market for the time being at Bearsted this Sunday. After that, we’ll be stepping away from markets while we see how things progress with my health.
Louie will still be attending Broadstairs Food Festival this autumn, and if im able to come along as a companion I shall, but thats a big if and not looking possible currently, but let's keep positive and see.
If we are able to return to regular weekly markets in the future we will of course keep our socials upto date and let all of you know.
