Well...

Here we go again. Today i had a phone call.........

Just when you think you've reached the end of the road, another one appears.

In three weeks, I'll be starting Paclitaxel chemotherapy.

This isn't because we've won.

It's because we're refusing to stop fighting.

The reality is hard to write.

This treatment is being started to see if my body can tolerate it. If it does, then we keep going. We keep fighting. We keep believing there are still more moments to live, more memories to make, and more love to give.

If I can't tolerate it...

Then, according to my team, there are no more treatment options left.

Reading those words back hurts.

It hurts because it makes everything feel so real.

People often see the posters.

The smiles.

The motivational quotes.

But they don't always see the tears that come afterwards.

They don't see the conversations that leave you numb.

They don't see the fear that creeps in when the house is quiet.

Or the thoughts that keep you awake long after everyone else has gone to sleep.

The truth is...

I'm frightened.

Not because I'm scared of needles or hospitals.

I'm scared of running out of time.

Time with my wife.

Time with my boys.

Time with my grandson.

Time with my mum and dad.

Time doing what I love.

But here's something cancer still hasn't taken from me...

Hope.

As long as there's another treatment to try...

As long as there's another sunrise to wake up to...

As long as there's another chance...

I'm taking it.

I've never promised that this journey would always have happy updates.

This page has always been about the truth.

The victories.

The setbacks.

The heartbreak.

The hope.

So today I'm asking you to walk into this next battle with me.

Not feeling sorry for me...

But believing with me.

Believing that my body can tolerate this treatment.

Believing that this chemotherapy can buy me more time.

Believing that miracles don't always arrive the way we expect them to.

So...

Let's go again, team.

Another battle.

Another chapter.

Another reason to refuse surrender.

And while I still have breath in my lungs...

There will be no surrender.

Thank you for every message, every prayer, every share, every comment and every ounce of love you've shown me.

You have carried me through days when I honestly didn't think I could carry myself.

I love you all.

Today has broken me a little.

I never wanted to write these words.

I always try to bring hope to this page. I try to show the fight. The determination. The resilience.

But today, I owe you honesty.

My treatment is being stopped.

The cancer in my primary tumour, in the roof of my mouth, is growing.

The cancer in my secondary site, my neck and lymph nodes, is growing too... and it's become more aggressive.

Hearing those words is something no person is ever prepared for.

You sit there trying to listen.

Trying to understand.

Trying to be brave.

But inside, it feels like the floor has disappeared beneath your feet.

People often tell me I'm strong.

The truth is...

I don't always feel strong.

Sometimes I'm scared.

Sometimes I'm angry.

Sometimes I cry when nobody is watching.

Sometimes I wonder just how much more one person can take.

Cancer doesn't just attack your body.

It attacks your mind.

It attacks your hope.

It tries to convince you that you've already lost.

But here's the one thing it still hasn't managed to take from me...

My reason to keep fighting.

I still wake up every morning with people I love.

My wife.

My children.

My grandson.

My mum.

My dad.

My family.

My friends.

And every single one of you who has followed this journey, sent a message, shared a post, said a prayer or simply taken a moment to care.

You have carried me more than you'll ever know.

So yes...

Today is another day of rubbish news.

I'm devastated.

I'm heartbroken.

But I'm not finished.

As long as I wake up tomorrow, I still have another chance to smile.

Another chance to love.

Another chance to make memories.

Another chance to raise awareness.

Another chance to remind someone else fighting cancer that they are not alone.

I don't know what tomorrow holds anymore.

None of us do.

But I do know this...

Cancer will decide many things.

It will not decide the size of my heart.

It will not decide how much I love my family.

And it will never decide the legacy I leave behind.

Thank you for standing beside me through the good days, the bad days and the heartbreaking days.

From the bottom of my heart...

Thank you.

Please keep me in your thoughts.
yeah
The fight isn't over...

It just looks a little different today.

Another day in hospital.

Another waiting room.

Another set of MRI and CT scan results.

People often think the hardest part of cancer is the treatment.

Sometimes... it isn't.

Sometimes the hardest part is the waiting.

The waiting for your name to be called.

The waiting for someone to walk through the door.

The waiting for words that could change your life in a matter of seconds.

There's even a word for it...

SCANXIETY.

And if you've ever lived with cancer, you'll know exactly what that means.

Your mind races.

Every ache you've felt over the last few weeks suddenly feels important.

Every pain becomes a question.

Every silence becomes deafening.

You replay every possible outcome in your head while trying your hardest to look calm on the outside.

People tell you to "stay positive."

Believe me... I try.

But positivity doesn't switch off fear.

It simply helps you keep walking despite it.

Today I'm hoping.

Hoping the treatment is working.

Hoping the cancer hasn't spread.

Hoping for news that lets me breathe a little easier.

Because the truth is...

I don't just fight cancer on treatment days.

I fight it every single day.

In my thoughts.

In my fears.

In the waiting.

So today, if you could spare a moment, I'd really appreciate your thoughts, your prayers, or simply a little hope sent my way.

And if you're reading this while carrying your own invisible battle...

Please remember this:

You are not facing it alone.

We're all walking this road together.

Here's hoping today brings good news. β€οΈπŸ™πŸ™Œ

21/07/2026

And it's that time again...

CHEMO SUITE.

If I'm honest...

I'm so tired.

Not just the kind of tired that a good night's sleep fixes.

The kind of tired that sits deep in your bones.

The kind that drains your body before the day has even begun.

The kind that cancer and treatment leave behind.

My energy is low.

My body aches.

My mind knows exactly what's coming.

Another round of poison...

Poison that will make me feel worse before it hopefully makes me better.

Nobody looks forward to chemotherapy.

Nobody walks through those hospital doors excited.

But we walk through them anyway.

Because sometimes courage isn't feeling brave.

Sometimes courage is simply showing up.

Showing up when every part of you wants to stay in bed.

Showing up when you're exhausted.

Showing up because the people you love are worth fighting for.

Cancer may steal my energy.

It may steal my comfort.

It may steal my appetite.

But it will never steal my determination.

So today I sit in that chair once again.

Another treatment.

Another battle.

Another opportunity to fight for tomorrow.

To anyone else walking into a chemo suite today...

I see you.

I know how hard it is.

Keep putting one foot in front of the other.

One treatment at a time.

One day at a time.

One battle at a time.

Because no matter how tired we become...

WE MUST GO ON. πŸ’™πŸ’ͺ

🚨 EXCITING TIMES AHEAD! 🚨

What started as one man's journey through cancer is beginning to grow into something much bigger.

I'm incredibly proud and excited to share that we have secured support from Simon Squibb and the team at "helpbnk.com" to help us take the next steps towards creating real change.

The goal?

πŸŽ—οΈ To become stronger advocates for Head & Neck Cancer patients.

πŸŽ—οΈ To raise awareness of Mouth Cancer and the realities patients face every day.

πŸŽ—οΈ To work towards achieving charitable status so we can provide support, education, awareness and a voice for those who often feel unheard.

This isn't about me.

This is about every person who has sat in a hospital chair receiving treatment.

Every person waiting for scan results.

Every family trying to navigate a cancer diagnosis.

Every survivor.

Every warrior still fighting.

And every loved one we've lost along the way.

For too long, Head & Neck Cancer and Mouth Cancer have not received the awareness they deserve.

That has to change.

Dan's Journey & Battle started as a way of documenting my own experience with Stage 4 cancer.

Today, it feels like it is evolving into something far greaterβ€”a community, a movement, and hopefully a future charity that can make a genuine difference to people's lives.

There is still a lot of work ahead.

But for the first time, I can see a path towards creating something that will outlive my own journey and continue helping others for years to come.

Thank you to every single one of you who has supported this page, shared a post, sent a message, donated, or simply followed along.

You haven't just supported me.

You're helping build something that could help countless others.

The journey continues.

And this is only the beginning. πŸ’™πŸ’ͺπŸŽ—οΈ

πŸ₯‘ So who eats avocado?

And who throws away the pit?

Now here's a question...

What would you say if I told you that many people throw away what could be the most nutrient-dense part of the fruit? πŸ‘€

The avocado seed (or pit) makes up around 13–18% of the fruit and contains a variety of compounds including:

βœ… Dietary fibre
βœ… Polyphenols (plant antioxidants)
βœ… Amino acids
βœ… Healthy plant compounds being studied for their potential health benefits

Research has shown that avocado seeds contain antioxidant compounds that may help protect cells from oxidative stress and inflammation.

Now before everybody rushes off to start eating avocado pits, it's important to understand that research is still ongoing. While laboratory studies have identified potentially beneficial compounds within the seed, scientists are still investigating the safety, effectiveness and best ways to consume them.

What we do know is this:

πŸ₯‘ The flesh is healthy.
πŸ₯‘ The seed contains interesting compounds.
πŸ₯‘ Nature often hides value in the parts we overlook.

It makes you wonder...

How many things in life do we throw away without realising their potential?

Knowledge is power. πŸ“’πŸ’ͺ

Have you ever tried using avocado seed before, or is this the first time you've heard about it?

Drop a πŸ₯‘ below if you've learned something new today!

Red Light Therapy, Cancer Support & Mitochondrial Health

Understanding Red Light Therapy

Red Light Therapy (RLT), also known as Photobiomodulation Therapy (PBM), is a non-invasive treatment that uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to stimulate cellular activity within the body.

Unlike ultraviolet (UV) light, which can damage cells, red and near-infrared light pe*****te tissues and interact with structures inside our cells known as mitochondria.

What Are Mitochondria?

Mitochondria are often referred to as the "powerhouses" of the cell.

Their role is to produce Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP), which provides energy for virtually every function in the body, including:

- Tissue repair
- Immune function
- Cellular regeneration
- Muscle recovery
- Inflammation regulation
- Wound healing

When the body is under stress from illness, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery, or chronic disease, mitochondrial function can become impaired.

How Does Red Light Therapy Work?

Research suggests that red and near-infrared light can be absorbed by an enzyme within the mitochondria called Cytochrome C Oxidase.

This process may:

- Increase ATP production
- Improve cellular energy levels
- Reduce oxidative stress
- Support tissue repair mechanisms
- Improve circulation
- Promote cellular resilience

The result is a potential improvement in the body's natural healing processes.

Can Red Light Therapy Treat Cancer?

It is important to understand that Red Light Therapy is not a cure for cancer and should never replace conventional cancer treatments recommended by your oncology team.

Current scientific evidence does not support Red Light Therapy as a treatment that kills or cures cancer.

However, research has shown it may have supportive benefits for some cancer patients, particularly in managing treatment-related side effects.

Potential Benefits for Cancer Patients

Studies have investigated the use of Red Light Therapy for:

Oral Mucositis

One of the most researched areas is oral mucositis, a painful inflammation and ulceration of the mouth that can occur during chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Photobiomodulation has been shown in multiple studies to reduce the severity and duration of oral mucositis in certain cancer patients.

Wound Healing

Red Light Therapy may help support:

- Surgical recovery
- Tissue repair
- Skin healing
- Treatment-related wounds

Inflammation Reduction

Research suggests that red and near-infrared light may help regulate inflammatory responses within tissues, potentially reducing discomfort and improving recovery.

Fatigue and Recovery

By supporting mitochondrial function and ATP production, some patients report:

- Improved energy levels
- Better recovery
- Reduced treatment-related fatigue
- Improved overall well-being

The Different Types of Red Light Therapy

Red Light (Approximately 630–660nm)

Benefits may include:

- Surface tissue healing
- Skin repair
- Reduction of inflammation
- Support for oral tissue recovery
- Improved wound healing

Near-Infrared Light (Approximately 810–850nm)

Benefits may include:

- Deeper tissue pe*******on
- Muscle recovery
- Joint support
- Enhanced circulation
- Cellular energy production

Many modern devices combine both wavelengths to target tissues at different depths.

What Does This Mean for Cancer Patients?

For individuals living with cancer, especially those undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or palliative treatment, Red Light Therapy may offer an additional supportive tool aimed at improving quality of life.

It is not about replacing medical treatment.

It is about supporting the body, supporting recovery, and helping cells perform their natural healing functions as effectively as possible.

Final Thoughts

Cancer treatment places enormous demands on the body. Anything that safely supports healing, reduces treatment-related side effects, and improves quality of life deserves careful scientific investigation.

Red Light Therapy continues to be an exciting area of research because of its relationship with mitochondrial function and cellular energy production.

While it is not a cure for cancer, growing evidence suggests it may be a valuable supportive therapy for some patients when used alongside conventional medical care.

Always discuss any complementary therapies with your oncology team before starting treatment.

Knowledge is power. Awareness creates choices. And every tool that helps improve quality of life is worth understanding.

So it looks like my day is starting now at 3:10am.
This disease truly is no joke.
Oh well plenty of time to get this weeks action plan sorted and put into motion.

Plenty to live for πŸ’ͺ
No more just surviving🫑
Now lets thrive βœ…οΈπŸ«‚
