Why do we leave flowers on a grave?

The practice of leaving flowers at graves began thousands of years ago when the ancient Greeks would honor fallen warriors. They believed that if the flowers rooted into the ground and grew from the gravesite, it was a sign that the fallen had found peace.

It's lovely walking around on site and seeing all the different tributes and flowers left on graves throughout the year.

Just a friendly reminder that only fresh cut flowers are preferred and wildflower seeds can be scattered too. Please remember to remove any plastic wrapping and avoid leaving vases or alternative vases such as plastic bottles or pots to put flowers in. We are a natural site and any such memorabilia will be removed.
