"With over 15 years of experience in hospitality kitchens, I have spent my career doing what I truly love: creating food that brings people together. My goal is to ensure that every mealtime is a highlight of the day for our residents—a moment of genuine satisfaction, comfort, and joy.

When I’m not in the kitchen, I’m usually making the most of the outdoors or enjoying quality time with my family. I have a passion for making things by hand, though I also highly value the restorative power of a good afternoon snooze!"

Our residents at Craven Nursing Home have had a wonderful few days taking part in some lovely activities! 🌟

Residents let their creativity shine during a fun jewellery-making session, crafting some beautiful bespoke pieces 📿✨ Everyone also joined together for a peaceful church service, spending a quiet moment reflecting and singing favourite hymns 🤍

It’s been a delightful time filled with creativity, connection, and lovely memories! 💕

Our residents at Craven Nursing Home enjoyed a wonderful trip out on Monday aboard our new minibus! 🚌✨

Residents loved getting out and about, taking in the picturesque local scenery and sharing plenty of laughs along the way. We captured some truly lovely moments with our residents throughout the trip, catching beaming smiles and great conversations as we journeyed together. ❤️📸

It was a fantastic outing full of happy memories, and our residents are already looking forward to their next adventure on our new bus! 🌟

Our residents have had a fantastic few days at Craven Nursing Home! 🎨☀️

To start with, they made the most of the sunshine with a lovely outdoor painting session.

One of our residents also enjoyed a wonderful trip to St Andrews: Skipton Wellbeing Cafe, chatting with new friends, exploring the workshops, and tucking into a free toastie he said was "to die for"! Thank you for being so welcoming. 🥪🫶🏽

Plus, everyone loved spending time with ponies Cartier and Digby during their visit on Wednesday! 🐶🐾

"Hi, I’m Maria, and I’ve dedicated the past 12 years to caring for others. I joined the Craven team in October, and I’m passionate about building meaningful relationships with our residents. I love learning about their unique stories and discovering what brings them joy. I strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment where everyone feels comfortable expressing themselves.

As a Veteran Friendly care home, we have a special responsibility to honor and celebrate the courage and sacrifices of our veterans. I believe it’s essential to provide the utmost care and support to those who have served our country."

"Mum came to live here in June. Her life has been transformed as has mine. From the first day she was out of bed and was feeding herself again; she was able to sit in communal areas and socialise with others and has been able to sit outside in the fresh air. The staff could not be more caring nor have a clearer understanding of Mum's needs despite the fact that she is no longer able to articulate them herself. The team are so patient and kind. This ethos is clearly shown throughout all staff from management down. The home genuinely seems a remarkably happy place to work as well as to live.

My life has been subsumed with worry about Mum for the past 4 years since her health began to decline. It's always difficult to know whether you are making the right decisions. At last I feel entirely confident that Mum is safe, well looked after and happy. Every time I visit the staff are welcoming and are smiling. Every time I visit, Mum is smiling. Thank you from both of us."

What does continual improvement really look like? 🤔📈

People often ask us what continual improvement truly means here at Spellman Care. To us, it isn’t just a word — it is a core philosophy that guides everything we do. Continual improvement means constantly listening, reflecting, and taking direct action to enrich the daily lives, comfort, and experiences of our wonderful residents, their families, and our dedicated team. 🌟🚌

This morning, our car park at Steeton Court Nursing Home saw a shining example of this commitment in action as we officially took delivery of our brand-new minibus, affectionately dubbed the ‘Spellman Express’ by our residents! Pictured here receiving the keys on the right is Steven Spellman, Director of Spellman Care, alongside Matt on the left from David Fishwick Minibus and Van Sales — the very company whose owner's inspirational story was brought to life in the movie Bank of Dave! 🔑🎬

This upgraded vehicle is the direct result of listening closely to feedback from our residents, relatives, and staff. When you told us what would make outings and day trips even better, we set out to search for a minibus that came with all those fantastic improvements. 💛

We specifically looked for a bus that featured extra handrails by the side door for easier boarding, as well as significantly expanded storage space for luggage, hot tea and coffee flasks, and picnic gear. We also made sure to find a minibus equipped with a higher-powered air conditioning system for warm summer days, a robust heater for cosy winter outings, and smooth air suspension — reminiscent of a classic Citroën DS — for an effortless ride and easier boarding. ☀️☕️
