It's National Smile month😁. Hormonal changes during pregnancy can increase the chances of you getting teeth and gum problems. So here are a few handy tips.

Keeping Your Mouth Healthy During Pregnancy
Looking after your teeth and gums during pregnancy helps protect your mouth and support overall health. Hormonal changes can make gums more sensitive, so a gentle routine with fluoride toothpaste is key.

Did you know that in the first few weeks, you can expect to feed your baby at least 10-12 times in every 24 hours? 💜
It may feel like lot, especially in the early days. But newborn babies have tiny tummies!
Babies don't just breastfeed because they're hungry - it's comfort, pain relief, help to sleep, and many other reasons.
✨Responsive Feeding✨
This means looking out for feeding cues, rather than scheduling or spacing out feeds. It's the best way to establish and maintain a good milk supply - and helps to keep your breasts feeling comfortable.
You can breastfeed your baby every time they want it - or whenever you feel you want to!
For example:
- If your breasts are feeling overfull
- Before an appointment, meal, or bath
- Before putting them in the pushchair or car seat
You can't overfeed a breastfed baby 💜
It can feel like you do very little other than feed in the early days, but as your baby grows, they'll be able to go longer between feeds.
If you're worried that your baby is feeding constantly, it may be worth getting some support.

✨ Sunscreen and Breastfeeding ✨

With record-breaking heat expected this week, here's a little reminder that you can use sunscreen as normal while breastfeeding

🌞 Staying safe in the sun:

Most of us don't apply enough sunscreen. Around 6 to 8 teaspoons is the recommended amount to cover your whole body.

For babies under 6 months, sunscreen isn't recommended - keeping them in the shade and out of direct sunlight is the best way to protect them.

For babies 6 months and over, and older children, a sunscreen of at least SPF 30 is recommended, and they should spend the hottest part of the day - usually between 11am and 3pm - in the shade.

Breastfed babies under 6 months do not need extra water - they can be breastfed as many times as they need. If you're bottle feeding, your baby can have small sips of cooled boiled water as they need it.

Babies over 6 months should be offered milk or water with meals. In hot weather, you can offer some extra water outside of mealtimes.
.. And don't forget to keep yourself hydrated!
