A huge thank you to Jake and the 1st Hedgerley Scouts for having Help in Hearing involved in the Farnham Royal Parish Picnic this weekend! It was fantastic to support such a brilliant local initiative and we were incredibly proud to have a race named after us on the day 🏁👏

The event was full of community spirit, teamwork and fun, and it was wonderful to see so many local people coming together to support Jake’s fundraising journey for the Bucks Scouts Grand Tour 2027.

A massive well done to Jake on being selected for this amazing opportunity such a huge achievement and so well deserved! We wish you and the Scouts the very best with the fundraising and your exciting adventure ahead

We are proud to be supporting Jake Greasley and the 1st Hedgerley Scouts as they raise funds for the Bucks Scouts Grand Tour 2027 🌍✨

Come along to the Farnham Royal Parish Picnic this Sunday and take part in the Help in Hearing Pipe Race alongside lots of other fun activities!

At Help in Hearing, we love supporting our local community and encouraging teamwork, confidence and new opportunities for young people 💙

We look forward to seeing everyone there and helping support such an amazing cause! 👏

This Sunday at the Farnham Royal Parish Picnic, I will be supporting Jake Greasley from 1st Hedgerley Scouts, who is fundraising for the Bucks Scouts Grand Tour 2027.

As a former 1st Hedgerley Scout myself, I am delighted to support Jake’s efforts. He has been selected from over 300 applicants for this once in a lifetime leadership trip through Europe and is raising funds towards the cost.

Jake will be at the picnic running two fun teamwork activities - the White Oak Construction Plank Race and the Help for Hearing Pipe Race, kindly supported by two excellent local businesses!

The Parish Picnic starts at midday on Sunday 17th May at Farnham Common Sports Club. With thanks to Farnham Royal Parish Council for organising the picnic. Please do come along, take part and support Jake’s fundraising:

It's Deaf Awareness Week 2026 | Right to understand - Together we break barriers.

This week focuses on raising awareness towards the barriers that exist for those who are deaf or living with a hearing loss, and what we can do to create a more inclusive world for all.

Small changes in how you communicate with someone can have a huge impact. Here are a few simple & gentle tips:

- Using a simple wave or gesture to gain someone's attention
- Facing the person you are speaking to, as lipreading is an important tool for many
- Taking the time to repeat or rephrase using different words if something isn't understood

Together, we can all help remove barriers and make communication easier and more inclusive for all.

Help in Hearing is proud to introduce FREE Earwax Removal for people aged 75 and over.

This free service is now available every Thursday at our Farnham Common clinic, subject to availability.

Our highly trained clinicians provide safe, effective relief from blocked ears, and this new community support initiative is designed to encourage timely access to professional ear care for older members of our local community.

We had such a lovely morning earlier this week at Buckingham House Care Home 💙

A huge thank you to your amazing team for making our Help in Hearing team feel so welcome. It was a real pleasure spending time with your wonderful residents, carrying out ear checks, sharing advice, and having some great conversations along the way.

Visits like these are what it’s all about for us connecting with the community and supporting hearing health in a friendly, relaxed way.
