⚽ Grassroots football is back! ⚽

The new season is here, and players across the country are pulling their boots back on. Although not every injury can be prevented, a few simple precautions can help keep everyone safer on the pitch:

✅ Complete a proper warm-up before training and matches
✅ Wear correctly fitted boots and shin pads
✅ Check the pitch for holes, debris and other hazards
✅ Keep players hydrated and allow regular breaks
✅ Build fitness and training intensity gradually
✅ Never encourage someone to “play through” significant pain
✅ Make sure the team has a stocked first aid kit and a trained first aider available

If a player suffers a head injury, develops concerning symptoms or simply doesn’t seem right, remove them from play and seek appropriate medical advice. When in doubt, sit them out.

Coaches and volunteers do an incredible job keeping grassroots football running—but would your team know what to do if somebody was seriously injured or became unwell?

What a great afternoon teaching Level 3 Basic Life Support to 19 healthcare professionals from Primary Care Network Canvey! ❤️

It’s always a pleasure delivering training to people already working within a clinical environment. It gives me the opportunity to share my knowledge and experience, but also put my own spin on the training, keeping it practical, relaxed and enjoyable.

We covered Adult, Child & Infant CPR, AED use, choking and anaphylaxis, with plenty of hands-on practice and discussion throughout.

❤️ A FEW STEPS CAN SAVE A LIFE ❤️

Would you know what to do if someone suddenly collapsed and stopped breathing?

CPR is one of the most important life-saving skills you can learn. In a cardiac arrest, every second counts, and starting CPR while waiting for an ambulance can make a huge difference to someone’s chance of survival.

📞 Call 999
🫁 Check for normal breathing
❤️ Start CPR – 30 chest compressions followed by 2 rescue breaths
🚑 Keep going until help arrives or the person starts breathing normally

You don’t need to be a healthcare professional to save a life. You just need the knowledge and confidence to act when it matters.
