One of the great things about being an ACPAT physio is that I can help riders too (who are often injured or wonky!!)

I’ve been working with this lovely lady following a fall and nasty ankle fracture. She is now back on board and it has been a pleasure treating her & her mare getting them back in action together.

Please get in touch if you are interested in a horse & rider assessment.

A great new study by an ACPAT colleague looking at the effects of baited stretches, tail pulls and pelvic rounding on abdominal and back (thoracic (T14) and lumbar (L1)) muscle activity. The results showed greatest abdominal and thoracic (T14) muscle activity with baited stretch to the hip, and greatest lumbar (L1) muscle activity with the pelvic rounding exercise. This study supports the use of these exercises in clinical practice.

However it is acknowledged that the study only included 7 healthy horses that did not have back pain. It would be interesting to see if the same results were seen in horses with back pain as this is often when these exercises are issued to clients.
