🌟 Introducing Our New Registered Manager at The Britton 🌟

We are delighted to announce that Emmi Storer will be taking over as Registered Manager at The Britton.

Emmi has been part of Kinwood Care since February in her role as Care Coordinator, working closely alongside the team, the people we support, families and professionals.

During this time, she has completed over 60 Mental Capacity Assessments and Best Interest processes, developed and delivered our culture training programme to each new cohort of staff, and played a key role in developing our evidence files to showcase the fantastic progress and outcomes being achieved across the service.

Emmi brings over 10 years’ experience in adult social care, including previous Registered Manager experience, and is Level 5 qualified (Ofqual) and a qualified DBT Practitioner.

Her focus as Registered Manager will be on maintaining high standards, developing and supporting our team, strengthening our evidence and governance, and most importantly, ensuring that the people we support remain at the heart of every decision we make.

We’re incredibly excited for this next chapter at The Britton and look forward to seeing Emmi continue to build on the progress already being made. 💙

🏗️ Exciting Progress at Kinwood Care – Wrenthorpe, Wakefield!

We’re delighted to share another major milestone in the development of our new Kinwood Care service in Wrenthorpe, Wakefield.

The foundations have now been dug, and it’s fantastic to see the plans beginning to become a reality. From here, we expect things to move quickly, so stay tuned over the next few weeks as we share the development taking shape! 🏡

We’re also extremely excited to have appointed the Registered Manager for the service. She brings a wealth of experience, and most importantly, her values and approach to care strongly align with ours at Kinwood Care. We’re really looking forward to working closely together as we build an exceptional service and team from the ground up.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll begin building the Wrenthorpe Team, with opportunities including:

đź’™ Kinwood Care Monthly Family Forum đź’™

Every month, we bring our families together for our Family Forum a space to share service updates, celebrate achievements, discuss learning and improvements, and most importantly, listen to the views of the people closest to those we support.

This month we shared some fantastic progress across the service, including new achievements, increased independence, community participation and positive developments within the home.

We were especially proud to hear positive feedback from families about communication and how accessible the team is.

One family member described communication from the management team as “first rate”, while another highlighted how important it is that people we support know they can approach staff or management whenever they need someone to talk to.

A particularly powerful piece of feedback was:

“I think it’s great that you’re actually listening to him… when he comes and says, can I speak to somebody, that somebody is always there.”

We also celebrated some brilliant individual achievements, including a first family holiday, increased involvement in group activities, a college graduation, a football hat-trick and an important milestone for someone who had previously found community engagement difficult walking along the seafront. 🌊⚽🎓

Our Family Forums also give us an opportunity to be open about where we can improve. This month we discussed learning from our quality audits, improvements to record keeping, increased face-to-face staff training and how we continue to learn from incidents and individual experiences.

For us, these meetings are about partnership families, the people we support and our team working together to continually improve the quality of support we provide.

Some huge achievements have been realised for the people we support at The Britton over the last few months. These successes are a testament to the highly skilled, person centred support provided by our team and, in one case, the fantastic support from the team at Oakfield Park.

💙 Jim successfully underwent his dental surgery – something that required an incredible amount of planning, patience and skilled support to make possible.

🎤 Josh has secured a regular spot entertaining at a local nursing home. Anyone who knows Josh knows he was born to perform, and it’s fantastic to see him sharing his personality and bringing joy to others.

📚 Keegan has been able to enjoy his final few months at Oakfield Park before his transition. A huge thank you to the Oakfield Park team for the outstanding work they’ve done supporting his education and preparing him for the next chapter.

🏡 Liam has made a successful transition to The Britton. Even more importantly, he has settled brilliantly, become involved in activities, and developed some really positive relationships with our staff team.

🏆 Jez has brought his huge personality to The Britton. After enjoying our recent awards evening so much, he decided he wanted his birthday to be an awards evening too! Jez chose the award categories, decided who should receive them, and planned his own celebration from start to finish. It was an incredible example of person-centred support, choice, control and having fun.

These are just a few examples of the amazing work our team delivers every day, helping people achieve goals that genuinely improve their quality of life.

Things are really starting to take shape at The Britton Bungalow.

We’re on track to welcome our first individual into their new home by the end of September, and we couldn’t be more excited. The environment is being developed to an exceptionally high standard, with every detail carefully considered to meet the individual’s person-centred needs and aspirations.

Listening to our staff at The Britton đź’¬

We recently reviewed our staff survey feedback from January to June 2026. Twenty-eight members of our team shared their views, resulting in an overall positive score of 91%.

Some of our strongest findings included:

âś… 100% positive feedback that management listens to staff
âś… 96% positive feedback about the working environment
âś… 96% positive feedback about line-manager support
âś… 93% of staff feeling valued
âś… 93% positive feedback about feeling safe at work

One member of staff told us:

“Everyone is welcoming and supportive. A positive working environment.”

We are proud of these results, but listening also means acting on the areas where we can improve. Career development was our main development area, with 64% positive feedback.

In response, career aspirations and individual progression plans are being incorporated into staff supervisions and team discussions, helping colleagues identify their goals and prepare for future development opportunities.

Staff voice plays an essential role in strengthening our culture, supporting our team and improving the quality of care we provide.

About Us

Kinwood Care Limited is an ambitious and growing specialist provider of residential care and support for adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs.

Our focus is simple: delivering outstanding, person-centred support that enables people to live meaningful, fulfilling lives while creating a positive and supportive environment for our teams.

As we continue to expand our services, we are looking to appoint an experienced and motivated Registered Manager to lead one of our specialist residential services in the Wakefield area.

The Role

As Registered Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the leadership, quality and performance of the service, ensuring it consistently delivers safe, effective and person-centred care in line with CQC standards.

You will lead, develop and inspire your team while maintaining excellent relationships with the people we support, families, commissioners and healthcare professionals.

Key responsibilities include:

* Providing strong day-to-day leadership of the service.
* Maintaining full CQC compliance and driving continuous quality improvement.
* Leading audits, governance and quality assurance processes.
* Managing recruitment, supervision, appraisal and development of staff.
* Ensuring safe staffing, effective rota management and budget oversight.
* Working closely with senior leadership to support the continued growth of Kinwood Care.
* Promoting positive outcomes, independence and quality of life for the people we support.

About You

We’re looking for someone who has:

* Previous experience as a Registered Manager or an experienced Deputy Manager ready for registration.
* A thorough understanding of CQC regulations, governance and compliance.
* Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs.
* Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
* A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (or willingness to complete if required).
* A full UK driving licence.

We are now out of the ground, and the structure is beginning to take shape. It is great to see the development moving forward as we continue to expand our specialist residential provision.
