LifeVac Europe are proud to introduce 11-month-old Jenson, our 6284th life saved in a choking emergency. Jenson choked on an acorn, resulting in a complete airway obstruction. Good Morning Britain presenter Richard Madeley has opened up about a harrowing near-death ordeal that left him convinced he was seconds away from dying in front of his own family.

Speaking alongside Dr Hilary Jones, the TV host recalled the terrifying moment a routine family lunch at a restaurant turned into a desperate fight for his life.

Caught up in a lively conversation, Richard swallowed a piece of rare beef before chewing it properly, sending the meat straight into his windpipe and completely sealing his airway.

Unable to speak, breathe, or even scream for help, his initial panic set in as he realized he didn't have enough trapped air in his lungs to force the obstruction back out.

As relatives tried frantically to help, time rapidly ran out, with the presenter beginning to see black spots as his world closed in and his legs buckled beneath him.

Reaching a terrifying point of severe oxygen deprivation, Richard admitted he felt a chilling sense of quiet acceptance that he was about to pass away right there at the table.

But just as he started collapsing toward the ground, one alert family member stepped in with the exact life-saving training needed to intervene—his sister.

Acting under extreme pressure, his sister, a trained teacher, administered the Heimlich manoeuvre, desperately trying again as Richard fell until the obstruction finally dislodged.

Air suddenly rushed back into his lungs, ending the nightmare, but the ordeal served as a brutal wake-up call to how rapidly a choking emergency can turn fatal.

“If she hadn't known what to do, I would have died. No question,” revealed Richard, who has a home in Cornwall with his wife Judy Finnegan, issuing a sobering reminder of why basic first aid knowledge is so vital.
