๐Ÿ“š Bigger. Better. More Support. ๐Ÿ’™

When we first created our parent carer guides, our aim was simple: to give families clear, practical information that we wished weโ€™d had ourselves.

Since then, weโ€™ve listened. Weโ€™ve learned. And, most importantly, weโ€™ve listened to parent carers.

Today, weโ€™re so proud to share that our guide collection has grown into a much more comprehensive library, covering even more of the everyday challenges that families face.

โœจ Our expanded range now includes topics such as:
๐Ÿ’™ After a Diagnosis
๐Ÿ’™ Navigating Education with SEND
๐Ÿ’™ Understanding Sensory Needs
๐Ÿ’™ Childrenโ€™s Mental Health
๐Ÿ’™ Childrenโ€™s Personal Care
๐Ÿ’™ Benefits, Work & Financial Support
๐Ÿ’™ Creating a More Accessible Home
๐Ÿ’™ All Things Diagnoses
๐Ÿ’™ All Things Travel
๐Ÿ’™ Caring for Yourself
๐Ÿ’™ Surviving (and Sometimes Enjoying!) the School Holidays

Each guide has been written with the same ethos weโ€™ve always believed in:
โœ”๏ธ Easy to understand
โœ”๏ธ Practical and realistic
โœ”๏ธ Compassionate
โœ”๏ธ Built around real-life experiences alongside current guidance and best practice

Whether youโ€™re at the very beginning of your journey or years into it, we hope these guides help you feel a little more informed, a little more confident, and a little less alone.

This is just the beginning tooโ€ฆ there are even more guides already in development, because no family should have to navigate this journey without accessible, trustworthy information.

๐Ÿ’™ Thank you to every family who has trusted us, shared their experiences, and helped shape these resources. You are the reason they exist.

Choice Wellbeing Service is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our amazing team!

We're particularly looking for volunteers who would enjoy:
โœจ Attending community events and information stalls
๐Ÿ’… Join in with Wellbeing sessions (spa days, treatment days etc)
๐Ÿ’™ Helping us plan and deliver wellbeing sessions
๐Ÿ“ฑ Supporting our social activities and community groups
๐Ÿค Being part of a friendly, supportive team that genuinely makes a difference

Volunteering with Choice isn't just about giving your timeโ€”it's about becoming part of a community.

As a volunteer you'll receive:

Accessibility & Carerโ€™s Wristbands at Ocean Beach Pleasure Park

Creating a Fun & Inclusive Experience for All
At Ocean Beach Pleasure Park, we are committed to ensuring that every guest, regardless of ability, can enjoy a fun, safe, and accessible experience. Weโ€™ve partnered with Nimbus Disability to assess eligibility for our Essential Companion Wristband (often referred to as a Carerโ€™s Pass). This allows guests who require support to bring a carer on selected rides free of charge, once eligibility is confirmed by Nimbus and the wristband is issued by Ocean Beach Management on the day of the visit.

PLEASE NOTE: We do NOT issue Essential Companion Wristbands without confirmation from NIMBUS

If you already hold a valid Access Card with the โ€œ+1โ€ symbol, your eligibility is confirmed for the duration of the cardโ€™s validity. You do not need to re-apply; simply bring your Access Card when you visit.
If you are applying for the first time, please ensure you apply at least 7 days in advance of your visit.

The latest EHC plan statistics were published by the Department of Education last week, and they reveal far more than just rising numbers.

Behind every statistic is a child, a young person and a family navigating the SEND system. From the record increase in EHC plans, to the growing number of children educated otherwise than at school, and the reality that most children with EHC plans are still educated in mainstream settings, the data raises important questions about the direction of SEND reform.

In our latest blog, we look beyond the headlines to explore what these figures really tell us, and what they could mean for children and young people's legal rights and access to support.
