Looking back on Carers Week, we wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who shared their story to help raise awareness of caring and what changes are needed.

Like Yvette who spoke about the difference greater understanding of ME/CFS made in her local farming community and how increased recognition of caring could add to this vital support.

A carer is someone who provides unpaid support to a family member, friend or neighbour who is ill, disabled, living with a mental health condition, has an addiction, or needs extra help as they get older. Many people don't realise they are carers and may be missing out on valuable support.

The theme for Carers Week in 2026 is **"Building Carer Friendly Communities"**, highlighting the importance of creating places, services and organisations where carers are recognised, understood and supported.
