There’s a beautiful idea in yoga that the practice meets you where you are.

Some days yoga is a strong flowing practice.
Some days it’s sitting quietly with a cup of tea.
Some days it’s taking a walk in nature or remembering to take a deep breath before reacting.

Yoga doesn’t have to look a certain way.

It’s not about achieving the perfect pose. It’s about building a little more awareness into everyday life.

I’ve spent the last few days away on retreat.

As yoga teachers, it’s easy to focus on looking after everyone else, but the practice reminds us that we have to keep showing up for ourselves too.

Time away to step back, reflect and simply be a student again is never wasted. It helps me return with fresh perspective, renewed energy and a deeper appreciation for the teachings that I’m lucky enough to share each week.

Yoga isn’t about becoming someone different. It’s about taking the time to reconnect with who you already are.

Looking forward to getting back on the mat with everyone this week 🙏🌿

A Sunday reminder...

Rest is not something you earn.

Rest is something you need.

In yoga we often talk about balance.

Not just effort, but ease.
Not just movement, but stillness.
Not just doing, but being.

So before the new week begins, give yourself permission to slow down.

The world will still be there tomorrow.

One of my favourite yoga books is The Tree of Yoga by B.K.S. Iyengar.

In it, Iyengar compares yoga to a tree.

The roots are the foundations of practice.
The trunk is strength and stability.
The branches reach out into the world.
The leaves nourish and sustain us.

Many people first come to yoga through the physical postures.

But yoga offers so much more than flexibility.

It's a lifelong journey of growth, self-study and connection.

Like a tree, the deeper the roots, the stronger we become.

A gentle Sunday reminder:

You don’t have to start Monday already exhausted.

Take a walk.

Read a few pages of a book.

Spend time with people who make you feel like yourself.

Sit in the garden.

Have a cup of tea without rushing.

Sometimes wellbeing isn’t another thing to add to the list.

It’s remembering what can be taken off it.

One of the questions I’m asked most often is:

“What actually happens during a Reiki session?”

The honest answer is… not much.

You lie down fully clothed.

There’s no effort required.

No stretching.
No talking unless you want to.

Most people simply experience an hour where they don’t need to be anything for anyone.

And in today’s world, that’s surprisingly rare.

No matter how many classes I teach or courses I complete, I’ll always be a student first.

This week I’m revisiting a book that has inspired my practice and teaching over the years.

Yoga isn’t a destination.

It’s a lifelong study.
