If you have a minor injury, the Minor Injury Unit at Stratford Hospital is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

We encourage patients to use the unit for the treatment of sprains and strains, suspected or minor fractures, wound infections, minor burns and scalds, minor head injuries, minor eye injuries, animal bites, and injuries to the back, shoulder, and chest.

Please consider using the MIU where appropriate to help ensure our emergency services remain available for those with the most urgent and life threatening needs.

As warmer weather approaches, more families and children will be drawn to rivers, lakes and other open waterโ€”but these environments can be extremely dangerous. Hidden risks such as strong currents, sudden drops, cold water shock and unseen hazards are often not recognised until it is too late.

Itโ€™s vital that we are clear: open water is not a safe place to swim ๐Ÿšซ

Coventry Safeguarding Children Partnership does not support or encourage open water swimming. Instead, they are committed to raising awareness of the serious risks involved.

๐Ÿ›Ÿ Drowning Prevention : Drowning is preventable โ€“ nobody should drown

๐Ÿ’ก Key safety messages

Stop and think before going near water

Stay together โ€“ never go alone

Float if you fall in, then call for help

Call 999 in an emergency

โš ๏ธ Remember

Open water is dangerous, even for strong swimmers

Children must be actively supervised at all times

Never enter the water to rescue someone๐Ÿ‘‰ Reach or throw โ€“ donโ€™t go

๐Ÿง’ For children

Stop, Look, Think!

Always stay with friends or a trusted adult

If you fall in: float like a starfish and shout for help

๐Ÿ‘‰ Respect the water โ€“ stay together, stay safe
