A Final Journey as Unique as She Was

It was an honour and privilege for David to lead a beautiful horse-drawn carriage for a very special lady’s final journey.

Every funeral we arrange is centred around the person being remembered, and this farewell was a perfect reflection of a life that was deeply loved. As pink was one of her favourite colours, the magnificent horses were adorned with vibrant pink feathers, creating a touching and personal tribute that brought smiles, memories and comfort to those gathered.

Horse-drawn funerals offer a truly timeless and elegant way to say goodbye, allowing families the opportunity to create a memorable and meaningful farewell that reflects the individuality of their loved one.

A Special Moment for David

At Waters & Sons, we are passionate about creating meaningful and personal farewells, and this was a particularly special day for David.

After many years of admiring the tradition and elegance of horse-drawn funerals, David had the opportunity to experience something he has always wanted to do, driving a horse-drawn carriage for the very first time.

Whilst it wasn’t part of the funeral procession itself, it was still a memorable and proud moment. Taking the reins and working alongside such magnificent horses was both exciting and humbling, giving David an even greater appreciation for the care, skill and tradition involved.

We are incredibly grateful to those who made the experience possible and for the encouragement shown along the way.

Some moments stay with you forever, and this is certainly one of them.

A Little Sneak Peek…

We just had to share a glimpse of the improvements taking place at our Merryoak branch. The team have been working incredibly hard over the last few days, and it is all starting to come together beautifully.

Whilst there are still a few finishing touches to complete, we couldn’t resist showing off our new entranceway, complete with the Waters & Sons logo proudly displayed at the front of our funeral home.

We believe that the environment we welcome families into should reflect the same care, pride and attention to detail that we provide every day. Creating a warm, dignified and comforting space for the families we support is so important to us.

Many of you will already know Ellie as David’s partner, and we are incredibly proud to have her joining our family business. As a family-run funeral director, family has always been at the heart of everything we do, making this a very special addition to our team.

Ellie brings with her a warm, caring nature and a genuine passion for supporting others. She has a strong background in healthcare and has spent many years caring for people and helping families through some of life’s most challenging moments. More recently, Ellie has worked with Mountbatten Hospice, where compassion, dignity and person-centred care are central to everything they do.

Her experience supporting patients and their loved ones during difficult times has given her invaluable skills, empathy and understanding, all of which reflect the values we hold dear at Waters & Sons.

Ellie shares our commitment to providing every family with the highest level of care, support and professionalism, and we know she will be a wonderful addition to our team and a great source of comfort to the families we are privileged to look after.
