NHS Hampshire & IOW - Wheelchair Users Survey

NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight is running a survey to understand the experiences of wheelchair users who are currently using services.

What will the survey do?

Gather insights on wheelchair users' experiences.
The findings from this survey will help inform the commissioning of services as we begin the procurement process for wheelchair services in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight later this year.
Provide an opportunity to be involved further to help shape the service in the short and longer term.

Who can take part?

Wheelchair users living in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight (or previous users in the last 12 months, who are 18 and over), their families, and carers.

Take the survey here: https://survey.ntropydata.co.uk/surveys/DP2026WheelChair

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete.

Paper copies can be requested by emailing: [email protected]

Requests must be made by Friday 31st July 2026 and returned by Sunday 16th August.

If you have any questions related to this project, please do not hesitate to email [email protected].

Dementia is progressive, which means symptoms get worse over time. Sometimes it is not diagnosed for a long time, but 91% of people affected by dementia say there are benefits to getting a diagnosis.

Visit https://www.alzheimers.org.uk/get-involved/dementia-action-week to find out more and get involved.

This Dementia Action Week, 18 - 24 May 2026, we will continue to raise awareness of dementia, the UK's biggest killer, by sharing the stories behind the Forget Me Not.

💜 World Fibromyalgia Awareness Day, 12th May 💜

Fibromyalgia is a chronic illness which causes pain and fatigue. There are approximately three million suffers across the UK, but there is very little awareness of the condition. It is a debilitating and life-altering condition, but it is very hard to reach a diagnosis, find information, or get effective treatment, as there has been very little research into it until recently.

Symptoms include:
💜Un-refreshing sleep, waking tired and stiff and fatigued
💜Headaches or migraines
💜Pain throughout parts of the body
💜Irritable bowel, leading to constipation and diarrhoea, gas and nausea
💜Cognitive problems and memory impairment, sometimes known as ‘fibro fog’
💜Clumsiness and dizziness
💜Sensitivity to weather changes, noise, bright lights and other environmental factors

Support groups:
If you have fibromyalgia, support groups can provide an important network for talking to others living with the condition.

Fibromyalgia Action UK is a charity that offers information and support to people with fibromyalgia.

If you have any questions about fibromyalgia, call the charity's helpline on 0300 999 3333.

Fibromyalgia, also called fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS), is a long-term condition that causes pain all over the body.

Mental Health Awareness Week, 11th–17th May

Mental Health Awareness Week is a great opportunity for the whole of the UK to come together to:

💚Focus on getting good mental health
💚Tackle stigma
💚Understand and prioritise our own and others' mental health

It also makes sure that mental health stays at the centre of the public conversation, contributes to government policy changes and provides a special day for mental health charities to promote fundraising activities to support their work.
