At Brook we believe that telling your s*xual partners that you have an STI is the right thing to do. This can be nerve-wracking, but there are lots of ways you can prepare for the conversation that make it feel easier.

The s*xual health clinic who you completed your test with will help you contact any previous partners. S*xual health services will often offer you the opportunity to use a โ€˜partner notificationโ€™ service to let them know. This sends them a text letting them know that they need to get tested and it wonโ€™t mention your name.

Learn how to open up about STIs:

Openly discussing s*xual health can be scary, but itโ€™s an important part of caring for ourselves and others. Find out about how to talk about STIs with s*xual partners and other people in your life.

At a time when the world is at our fingertips, why are so many people feeling detached from both each other and themselves?

As we increasingly prioritise our โ€˜networksโ€™ and โ€˜contactsโ€™, many of us find it harder to make the meaningful connections that truly enrich our lives.

Thatโ€™s why, for S*xual Health Week 2026: Letโ€™s Connect, weโ€™re championing human connection across platonic, romantic and s*xual relationships.

Unprotected s*x is any sort of s*x where protection isnโ€™t used ๐ŸŒ

It is often used to mean having s*x without a condom or when a method of contraception or barrier method has failed (for example, a split condom or a missed pill).

Having unprotected s*x can put you at risk of s*xually transmitted infections (STIs) or unplanned pregnancy, so itโ€™s important to take action soon after it happens to keep yourself and your partner safe.

Had unprotected s*x and not sure what to do? Read this:

Donโ€™t panic. Your local s*xual health service or doctor will be able to help you!
