Breaking attachment styles down to basics is tricky, but the latest blog post attempts to do just that.

If you're seeing the term online a lot and still feel unsure what it's about, this should help.

Whilst there is research to say that it's not the be all and end all, understanding your own attachment style and how it formed can be a really helpful starting point to gaining clarity around your relationships and any issues you might be having.

How hard is taking that step though?!

When you've got yourself in a rut, or can't see a way out, or feel like things are just impossible to change - taking even the smallest step can feel like climbing a mountain.

You might feel like there's no point, or there's nothing that can be done.

Having someone to be there to identify even the smallest steps, and support you, and be there to remind you of those small steps can often be the thing that starts momentum.

Being able to see my clients making changes, and then recognising them and telling me about them, is one of the biggest honours.

Bambi, or the bear?

This is taken from my latest blog on how people-pleasing behaviour could be coming from your childhood.

Have you heard of the fawn response? Maybe it's something you recognise in yourself or others.

One of the best things that often comes from therapy is feeling like you're able to assert yourself and your own needs more confidently, without worrying about upsetting people.

Fully regulated therapist here.. 🙋🏻‍♀️
(Pfft, not in this heat!)

Save this for when someone asks how you're doing and "too hot to feel anything" doesn't feel like an adequate response.

I'd say I was somewhere between a 6 and an 8, but feeling good now. What about you?

Stay hydrated and I hope you're easing into the week following the bank holiday with all this heat! 🥵

Ever felt like you couldn't be angry?

It just wasn't an option? Or it was just easier to pretend everything was fine?

Anger is one of those emotions that gets a bad wrap, but we all need to be able to be angry or annoyed sometimes!

Share this with a friend who struggles to express themselves or save it for when you need a reminder that it's okay to feel angry!

Being hard on yourself?

Healing is a journey, an ongoing one. I don't think anyone gets to a place where everything is suddenly 'perfect' - because we're human.

It's okay to have bumps in the road, twists, turns and normal life 'stuff' going on!

If you're doing your best, and you're working on stuff, could that be enough for today?

If only it was that easy, right?

You might feel really frustrated when people tell you to "just get over it" - it's in the past, just move on!

Trauma responses aren't something you choose, but your body and brain prioritising survival over happiness - it's predicting future pain based on oast experiences, and doing its best to protect you from experiencing things again.

Recognise any of these behaviours?

If you're seeing a lot of them and want to learn more, there's a free guide to CEN in my bio.

Do you do this? How long would you spend on it?

Or are you going over past conversations trying to figure out how it could have gone better?
