No injections or surgery required!

This week, we’re incredibly excited to introduce our brand-new STORZ Medical Shockwave Therapy systems at Essex Coast Physio following an investment of almost £10,000 in the latest treatment technology.

But what exactly is Shockwave Therapy?

Despite the name, it doesn’t involve electricity or “shocks.”

Instead, Shockwave Therapy delivers thousands of precisely targeted acoustic (sound) waves into injured tissue.

These acoustic waves stimulate the body’s natural healing response by:

✔️ Increasing local blood flow and circulation.

✔️ Helping reduce long-standing inflammation.

✔️ Encouraging damaged tendon and soft tissue to repair more effectively.

✔️ Reducing pain by calming over-sensitive pain receptors.

✔️ Improving movement and helping restore normal function.

Shockwave Therapy has become one of the most widely researched non-invasive treatments for a range of stubborn musculoskeletal conditions, including:

• Plantar fasciitis (heel pain)

• Achilles tendinopathy

• Tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow

• Patellar tendinopathy (runner’s knee)

• Shoulder tendon pain

• Calcific shoulder tendinopathy

• Long-standing tendon injuries

• Certain causes of chronic joint pain where tendon inflammation is contributing to the problem

At Essex Coast Physio, we often combine Shockwave Therapy with expert hands-on treatment and targeted rehabilitation exercises because treating the cause of the problem—not simply the symptoms—usually provides the best long-term outcome.

We’re incredibly proud to continue investing in the latest evidence-based technology because we believe our patients deserve access to the very best treatment options available.

Every investment we make has one purpose:

Helping our patients recover more quickly, move more freely, and get back to enjoying life with the people they love.

To every patient who has chosen Essex Coast Physio over the years—thank you.

Your trust in us allows us to continue investing in better facilities, better technology and continually raising the standard of care we provide to our community.

Three weeks before her granddaughter started preschool, Sandra (alias) thought she was going to let her down.

Not because she wanted to.

Because she simply didn’t think she’d be able to walk.

Sandra came to see us painfully limping on her right knee, clutching her lower back and fighting back tears.

But it wasn’t just the pain that upset her.

It was what that pain meant.

For months, her daughter and son-in-law had been preparing little Darcy (alias) for one of the biggest milestones of her life—starting preschool.

“Mummy will be at work. Daddy will be at work… but Nanny will be there.”

Nanny would walk her to preschool.

Nanny would pick her up.

Nanny would be there.

Then, just three weeks beforehand, Sandra developed severe knee pain. Within days, her lower back became painful too as her body compensated for the way she was walking.

She believed she was going to let her granddaughter down.

We discovered that a recent viral illness had triggered a significant flare-up of inflammation in her arthritic knee. As her walking changed to protect it, the strain quickly spread into her back.

After specialised hands-on treatment and shockwave therapy treatment to reduce pain and inflammation, everything changed.

Her pain eased.

Her confidence returned.

And one week later…

Sandra walked Darcy to preschool.

She held her hand.

Watched her take those brave first steps into a brand-new chapter.

Picked her up at the end of the day.

And listened to every excited story all the way home.

❤️ This is why we do what we do.

Treating joint pain isn’t just about knees, hips or backs.

It’s about helping people be there for life’s moments that matter most.

If pain is making your world feel smaller, don’t assume it’s simply something you have to live with.

There’s almost always something that can be done.

Sometimes helping someone walk comfortably again means so much more than helping them walk.

It means helping them be there for the people they love.

💙 Please share this story with somebody who needs to hear that there is hope.

Is joint pain quietly stealing your summer?

At this time of year, we often find ourselves becoming more active.

Walking more.

Gardening more.

Going on holiday.

Spending more time outdoors.

Making memories with friends and family.

But for many people, joint pain, stiffness, and loss of mobility begin to get in the way.

What starts as a little discomfort can quickly become:

❌ Turning down invitations

❌ Avoiding long walks

❌ Sitting out activities you would normally enjoy

❌ Worrying about keeping up with children or grandchildren

❌ Secretly wishing a day out was over because your joints are hurting so much

The truth is that many people simply accept these limitations as a normal part of getting older.

But that isn’t always the case.

At Essex Coast Physio, we regularly help people who are pleasantly surprised to discover that their symptoms are often far more treatable than they first believed.

The key is understanding exactly what is causing the problem.

That’s why we have released a limited number of Complimentary Summer Joint Pain Assessments for people whose pain is preventing them from enjoying the summer they deserve.

During your assessment, our expert clinicians will:

✔ Identify the true cause of your symptoms

✔ Explain what is happening within your joints and surrounding tissues

✔ Provide clarity on what treatment options are available

✔ Help you understand the fastest route back to enjoying the activities you love

Whether your goal is to enjoy a holiday, spend more time with family, get back to gardening, play golf, or simply walk comfortably again, our team would be delighted to help.

🎯 Availability is limited and appointments are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The REAL reason your joint pain isn’t improving — and the SECRET to restoring your joints back to how they were

Essex Coast Physio is Southend’s highest-rated joint pain treatment centre, with over 260 five-star Google reviews, and has helped thousands of people restore movement and resolve long-term stiffness and pain — without the need for painkillers, injections, or surgery.

Many people try to manage stiffness and pain with painkillers and exercises alone, but this often masks the true cause of the problem — and in many cases the joint is simply too painful or stiff to exercise without effective hands-on treatment.

At Essex Coast Physio, we are on a mission to make sure that no one:

• Cancels plans with friends or family because joint pain prevents them leaving the house
• Goes on days out secretly wishing it was over because their joints are hurting so much
• Misses out on time with grandchildren because they don’t feel confident keeping up and being able to keep them safe

✨That’s why we’re offering a limited number of Complimentary Joint Pain Assessments at our clinic in Great Wakering, Southend-on-Sea✨

During the assessment, our expert clinicians will:
✔ Assess and diagnose the true cause of your symptoms
✔ Provide personalised self-care advice and guidance
✔ Recommend an effective, hands-on treatment plan to restore movement and reduce pain

🎯 Only 15 appointments available, so we recommend booking as soon as possible to secure your appointment.

Inflammation spreads. Here’s why. 👇

Most people assume that if they have arthritis in a joint, the inflammation stays neatly contained within that joint.

But that’s not actually how the body works.

There is no physical barrier around a joint that prevents inflammation from spreading into the surrounding tissues.

This means that when a joint becomes inflamed, it is very common for that inflammation to begin irritating nearby tendons, ligaments, and bursae (the small fluid-filled cushions that help tissues glide smoothly).

This is why people who have arthritis often develop secondary problems such as:

🔹 Tendonitis

🔹 Bursitis

🔹 Muscle tightness

🔹 Loss of movement

🔹 Weakness around the joint

In fact, these surrounding soft tissues are often responsible for a significant proportion of the pain, stiffness, and loss of function that people experience.

This is also why so many people become frustrated when they are simply told they have arthritis and that nothing can be done.

Because while the arthritis may be present, it is often only part of the story.

The encouraging news is that these secondary soft tissue problems are frequently very treatable when they are correctly identified.

Understanding exactly what structures are contributing to your symptoms is often the difference between continuing to struggle with pain and finally making meaningful progress.

Sometimes the problem is more complex than it first appears.

The joint isn’t always the only structure involved.

And when we identify everything contributing to your symptoms, treatment becomes far more effective.

That’s why getting the right diagnosis matters so much.
