In light of the recent case in Hull, I just want to say how appreciative I am of the crematorium teams and funeral directors I work with. Their professionalism, care and integrity are evident every single day.

In light of recent news stories regarding funeral industry standards, we wanted to highlight our membership with The Federation of Burial and Cremation Authorities - FBCA.

The Federation is the UK’s principal representative of burial and cremation authorities, providing a range of services to support its members' care.

Membership of the FBCA is entirely voluntary and not all crematorium operators choose to join. We take great pride in the consistently high standards we uphold across every aspect of our work, and that’s why we welcome the opportunity for our facilities and practices to be independently assessed by industry experts.

We also operate an Open Door Policy in which members of the public are able to tour our facilities to gain reassurance that their loved one will be cared for with the highest level of dignity and respect.

For any information regarding our facilities and practises, please contact the office, visit our website, or pop in to have a chat with us.

We had a special visitor at today’s service in Eden Chapel — the family dog. He used to sit close to the lady we were remembering whenever she was unwell, keeping her company with gentle loyalty. He was a very good boy ❤️.

Love Keanu as a humanist and a human being. His honesty about life feels deeply human. No afterlife, no grand answers —
just the people who miss us when we’re gone.

Southport Crematorium today. I found some welcome shade in their beautiful, established woodland. Nature has such a calming presence. Even the squirrels were hiding from the heat — this was the only clue of their existence.

A touching message from a family I recently had the privilege to support has truly made my day. I’m so grateful to do this work. 🤍

Thanks for the share Corinne Firth-Surkitt - Funeral Celebrant. Direct Cremation is an option and definitely has a place, but I would reiterate Corrine’s advice about being guided by your local funeral director. You will deal with real people who are incredibly professional and care deeply.

You don’t need to take our word for it, the advertising standards agency say that the services being provided by some direct cremation companies are not as they would lead you to believe.

If you want to be sure of what you’re getting then you can call us on 0116 2712340 or speak to your local independent funeral director.

Our focus is always to support the informed choice of individuals and their families.

I supported a beautiful ceremony at West Lancashire Cemetery and Crematorium yesterday. The family created something truly personal and heartfelt. The grounds are looking more beautiful each season, and as someone who loves trees, I especially appreciate how families can personalise their own space in the Garden of Remembrance.

Had a little 'Death Dinner' last night - friends, food and some surprisingly joyful chats about what really matters.
It wasn’t morbid. It was warm, funny and full of good, honest moments.
I dressed the table with rosemary for remembrance and salt for purity and preservation and we played around with some thoughtful questions.

Talking about our own death - and how we’d like things to be - is one of the kindest gifts we can leave for the people who remain. We even dipped into the practical bits from the journal 'Sorry It’s Your Problem Now', which sparked some interesting conversation...including who we might need to leave apologies for 😉

If you’re curious about the wider movement, I’ve added a BBC article on death doulas here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cp9vp0ld1leo

Turns out talking about death can feel a lot like talking about life.
