We’re delighted that Ricoh are supporting our Steps for a Match event at Telford Parkrun on Saturday 3rd October! 🙌

Their support will help us raise awareness of blood cancer and the importance of getting more people onto the stem cell donor register. They are also encouraging employees to get involved by walking, jogging, running or volunteering on the day! 👟❤️

The event supports our ongoing campaign, with John joining us to cut the red ribbon and officially start the event. John is still waiting for his lifesaving stem cell match.

🎉 10,000 SIGNATURES IN JUST 24 HOURS! 🎉

We are proud to support Anthony Nolan, DKMS UK and Leukaemia UK in this incredibly important petition calling for change to the NHS policy on second stem cell transplants. ❤️

The petition has already reached 10,000 signatures in just 24 hours, which means the Government must now respond in writing.

But we need 100,000 signatures for the petition to be considered for debate in Parliament.

🩸 What are we asking for?

Currently, if a patient relapses less than 12 months after their first stem cell transplant, they cannot access a second transplant on the NHS — regardless of their individual circumstances.

This policy was introduced almost a decade ago. Since then, clinical evidence has developed, and there is a growing case for decisions about second transplants to be based on each individual patient’s circumstances, rather than an automatic 12-month cut-off.

At Race Against Blood Cancer, we believe every patient deserves a fair chance. ❤️

💜 Cancer Awareness Training for Carers of People with Learning Disabilities 💜

Carers play such a vital role in the lives of people with learning disabilities — and they deserve the knowledge and confidence to help spot the signs that could save a life. ❤️

People with learning disabilities are more likely to develop cancer and are also less likely to have cancer diagnosed at an early stage.

That’s why cancer awareness training for carers matters.

By helping carers understand what signs and symptoms to look out for, we can support:

🔎 Earlier recognition
🏥 Earlier diagnosis
💜 Better outcomes
❤️ And ultimately, help save lives.

This is something our friend Kumlesh at Telford Gurdwara is particularly passionate about, and we’re really pleased to share this important training opportunity.

Yesterday, we had a fantastic time at the Coventry College Freshers Fair, meeting lots of enthusiastic first-year students! 🎓🙌

It was brilliant to chat to so many young people who were interested in the work we do at Race Against Blood Cancer and how we help give blood cancer patients hope by helping find their lifesaving stem cell match. 🩸❤️

We had lots of interest from students wanting to:
🧬 Join the stem cell register and potentially become someone’s lifesaving match
🙋‍♀️ Get involved in our College Champions volunteering programme
❤️ Support our mission to increase diversity on the stem cell register

We’re also really looking forward to returning in November to deliver our HERO Project, and the students are already excited to get involved!

A huge thank you to Charlotte, the organiser, for putting together such a great event and for welcoming us to Coventry College. 💙

🩸❤️ This Blood Cancer Awareness Month, we remember.

We remember the people whose lives were taken by blood cancer.
We remember the families who had to say goodbye far too soon.
And we remember the people who inspired us to keep fighting for a future where more lives can be saved.

Among those we remember are our much-loved supporter Natalie, and Khaleel, who we fought alongside in our search to find his lifesaving stem cell match.

We will never forget them. ❤️

Their stories remind us why the work we do matters. Why we keep visiting communities, speaking to young people, holding donor drives and encouraging people to join the stem cell register.

Because somewhere out there, someone is waiting for their match.

❤️ What a fantastic day! ❤️

We had a brilliant day yesterday at Siri Guru Gobind Singh Gurdwara in Telford.

We met some incredible people who shared their personal stories of living with cancer, signed people up to the stem cell register, and had some really meaningful conversations. 🩸💙

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers Sasha and John, from our campaign, for joining us.

And a special thank you to Kumlesh for organising everything and welcoming us. 🙏

We’ve also made some fantastic new connections, with exciting opportunities to hold more donor recruitment drives in the future!
