💜 Help us spread the word about Care Connections💜

Every other Wednesday, we love taking some of our residents along to Care Connections, a wonderful local group for people living with dementia and their carers.

It’s a lovely opportunity to get out into the community, enjoy a cuppa ☕, have a chat 💬, play some games 🎲 and, most importantly, meet other people who understand the dementia journey.

The group is open to everyone, whether you’re living with dementia yourself, caring for someone with dementia, or simply looking for a friendly and welcoming place to connect with others.

🗓️ Every other Wednesday (Next Session on 23rd Sept)
⏰ 1pm–3pm

We’ve really enjoyed bringing our residents along and would love to see more people benefiting from this fantastic group. 💜

🍦💗 A little trip for a sweet treat! 💗🍦

Today we headed out with our residents Anne, Anne, Alice, Allan and Margaret to Archers for some delicious ice cream! 😋🍨

Everyone enjoyed choosing their favourite treat, having a good chat and enjoying some time out together. There were lots of smiles and, of course, plenty of ice cream! 🥰

☕️ A Change of Plans! ☕️

Our afternoon didn’t quite go to plan! We headed out with the intention of visiting the bus museum, but when we arrived we discovered it was unexpectedly closed. 🚍😅

Not ones to let a little change of plan stop us, we quickly adapted and headed over to Siesta in Newton Aycliffe for a lovely coffee stop instead! ☕️🍰

Our residents enjoyed having a relaxing catch-up, enjoying some refreshments and making the most of our unexpected change of plans. ❤️

Sometimes the best days are the ones that don’t go exactly as planned! 😊✨

🌿☕ A lovely morning at Green Lane Tea Barn! 🐑🌸

Today our residents enjoyed a wonderful trip to Green Lane Nurseries & Tea Barn, We had a lovely time taking in the beautiful surroundings, enjoying a cuppa and a tasty treat, and having a little browse around the farm shop. 🫖🍰🛍️

It was the perfect opportunity to get out, enjoy some fresh air and spend quality time together. Lots of smiles, laughter and lovely memories made! 💕😊

What an afternoon we’ve had at Lothian House! ❤️
Today we were joined by the wonderful Kay, who had us singing and dancing our way through the decades! 🎤🎶 From old favourites to songs that brought back some fantastic memories, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
We were also delighted to welcome some lovely residents from our local care home, Defoe Court, who joined us for the afternoon. It was wonderful to see everyone coming together, making new friends and enjoying the music. 🥰
And when we say the music got everyone moving… we really mean it! 😂💃🕺 Margaret, Brenda and Harry simply couldn’t keep their feet still! They were up dancing and having the absolute best time to nearly every song❤️
Days like today are what it’s all about music, laughter, friendship and making memories together. 🥰
A huge thank you to Kay for entertaining us and to our friends from Defoe Court for joining us. We can’t wait to do it all again! 🎶❤️

🌸 A little introduction from me… 🌸
Some of you may already know me, but for those who don’t, I thought it was time to properly introduce myself! 😊
For the past 8 months, I’ve had the absolute pleasure of supporting Lothian House as a Turnaround Manager. During that time, I’ve watched the home grow and develop, and most importantly, I’ve completely fallen in love with our beautiful residents. ❤️
I’ve also had the privilege of working alongside such a dedicated, caring and passionate team, and I’m incredibly proud of everything we have achieved together.
As Jill begins her well deserved retirement, I’m delighted to be taking on the role of Home Manager at Lothian House. While I know I have big shoes to fill, I’m excited about the journey ahead and determined to continue the wonderful work that has already been achieved.
I want Lothian House to continue growing together as a team, always putting our residents at the heart of everything we do. For me, quality care is about much more than meeting someone’s care needs, it’s about looking at the whole person, supporting their wellbeing, creating meaningful experiences, promoting independence and, most importantly, helping every resident to live their best possible life. 🌷
I’ve worked for HC-One for 16 years and have been a Home Manager for the last 10 years. I’m passionate about care, about people and about continually finding ways to improve the quality of life and experiences of those we look after.
I’m really looking forward to getting to know more of our residents, families and the wider Lothian House community, and continuing this journey together. 💕
My door is always open, so please come and say hello! 👋

❤️ A day filled with love, laughter and a little dancing! 💃🕺
Yesterday was a busy but very special day at Lothian House! We started the morning with a little game of bingo 🎱 before getting ready for a very special afternoon of celebrations.
We were joined by Ivan, who came along to party with our residents and staff as we celebrated the retirement of our wonderful Jill. 🥰
Many of you will know Jill, who has been the manager of Lothian House for an incredible 22 years. During that time, she has made such a huge difference to our home, our residents, our staff and the wider community. Her dedication, care and commitment will never be forgotten. ❤️
Of course, there were a few tears, but mostly there was love, laughter, music and lots of dancing! 🎶💃 Our residents absolutely loved getting up and having a dance and celebrating Jill in true Lothian House style!
Jill will be very much missed by our residents and staff, but we are so happy that this isn't goodbye. We look forward to seeing her calling in for a cuppa, a catch-up and, no doubt, a few more dances in the future! ❤️
Thank you for everything, Jill. Enjoy your retirement you deserve it! 🥂🌸

Today our residents took a lovely trip down memory lane as part of our I Once Was… activity. 💭❤️

We chatted about the jobs and careers our residents had throughout their lives — from the places they worked, the people they met, and the skills they learned, to the funny memories and special moments they still remember today. 👩‍🍳👨‍🔧👩‍🏫👨‍🌾

It was wonderful hearing everyone share their stories and celebrating the many different roles, achievements and experiences that have shaped their lives. 🌷

Because every resident has a story worth remembering, and every story deserves to be heard. 💕✨
