🚤🌿 Making memories on the water at Henbrook House! 🌿🚤

Over the summer, Henbrook House have been delighted to facilitate three wonderful canal boat trips, giving our residents the opportunity to get out on the water, enjoy the fresh air and take in the beautiful scenery. 💙

Our journeys along the Great River Ouse have taken us through the picturesque riverbanks of Huntingdon and Hartford, providing plenty of opportunities to relax, chat, enjoy the views and make some very special memories together. 🌳🌊

A huge thank you to the fantastic volunteers at the Ladybird Canal Boat Trust, who have been so accommodating and supportive throughout our trips. Their care and attention have helped ensure that all of our residents have been comfortable, well looked after and able to enjoy the experience.

At Henbrook House, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to take part. So, if more residents are interested than we can accommodate on one trip, we simply organise another — and another if needed! ❤️

Because making memories shouldn't be limited by numbers. 🌟

✨️The week that was✨️

What a week we had last week here at Henbrook House.

An abundance of outings took us to Grafham Water Cafe, Hamerton Zoo, Living Histories exhibition, pub lunches and Parkside Strolls.

We had the sound of musicals with the amazing Molly Jane.🎶🎤

Old fashioned bread and butter baking with Gemma along with Origami creations were our "hands on" activities this week.

A fun Welly wanging competition brought lots of laughter with our residents.🥾

And no week would be complete without our prize Bingo in the Bistro and flower arranging on our memory floor.💐

💙 Inclusivity means making sure everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the things they love.

At Henbrook House Care Home, we recognise the importance of creating an inclusive environment for all our residents. For some of those living on our Memory Floor, however, larger group activities — such as our weekly live performances — can sometimes feel overwhelming.

That’s why we’re delighted to introduce Cash Edwards 🎶

Cash is now a regular face at Henbrook House, providing exclusive performances for smaller groups in a familiar and comfortable environment where our residents can truly relax and enjoy the music.

It doesn’t take long before we see the difference. Anxiety begins to ease, smiles appear, and moods are lifted as our residents enjoy the sounds of Cash’s performances. ❤️

Our priority is to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to take part, in a way that feels right for them.

With Cash’s weekly performances, we can bring the joy of live music to our Memory Floor residents without anyone feeling overwhelmed — ensuring that no one has to miss out. 🎤🎵

✨️Making dreams come true✨️

Henbrook House, was proud to support resident Eileen fulfil a lifelong dream by arranging her first-ever helicopter flight from Bottisham Airfield Museum near Cambridge. Taking off from the museum’s grounds, Eileen and her daughter Fiona enjoyed sweeping views of the Cambridgeshire countryside, and at some points could even see as far as Ely and Newmarket.🚁

While living in Australia, Eileen would often watch helicopters flying overhead and wonder what it would be like to see the world from that height. In the years since she has always encouraged her daughters to seize every opportunity for adventure they can. Unfortunately, reduced mobility in recent years has made it harder for Eileen to keep up with their activities.

When the team at Henbrook House asked Eileen to name an experience she would dearly love to try, a helicopter flight quickly emerged as the perfect choice. Having never had the opportunity herself, Eileen jumped at the chance to finally take to the skies.

Eileen’s excitement after the flight said it all, but her experience also illustrates a wider principle: moving into a care home doesn’t mean a resident’s horizons have to shrink. The team here at Henbrook House believe that exceptional care is about expanding what feels possible for residents by helping them fulfil ambitions they may once have thought were beyond their reach.

Eileen’s experience is a wonderful reminder that later life can still be full of anticipation and excitement. For us, exceptional care is about making those moments possible.”💙

For one afternoon only, out Bistro will be turned into the chocolate room from from Charlie and the chocolate factory.

Meet characters from the film. Walk the pathway of sweet treats or dive in and taste our chocolate fountain waterfall.

Community Connections to bowl you over 🤝

As we approach the last of our summer visits to the Eaton Socon Bowls Club, we were proud and privilaged to unveil our main sponsor board.🎉

Our monthly trips have brought connections way beyond a game of bowls. We have made new friends with club staff and members who have been simply amazing.

Some residents have benefited in the excercise the game brings, whilst others simply enjoy watching over a nice cup of tea and a biscuit. ☕️

Henbrook House prides itself in its community connections and relationships. With Jill and the team at E.S.B.C we look to maintain this special relationship for years to come.

🌞 Summer of fun, friendship and community! 🏴‍☠️🍦🎬

Over the summer, we’ve been delighted to welcome children from our local community through our doors here at Henbrook House Care for a series of Kids Clubs — and what a fantastic time we’ve had!

From pirate treasure hunts and adventures 🏴‍☠️💰 to creating delicious ice cream sundaes 🍨, and settling down for our very own cinema film club 🎬🍿, every session has been filled with creativity, laughter and plenty of fun.

It’s been wonderful to see our home come alive with the energy and enthusiasm of our younger visitors, while creating opportunities for different generations of our community to spend time together. ❤️

A huge thank you to all the children and families who joined us and helped make our summer so special. We’ve loved having you with us! 🌈
