🌳🍃 The Popsy Doodles had a wonderful day at Anglesey Abbey, immersing ourselves in nature and exploring the beautiful grounds.

We last visited in the winter to see the snowmen, but it was so cold that we didn’t get the chance to properly explore the park. This time, we made the most of the warmer weather and enjoyed a lovely walk to the play area, collecting sycamore seeds and pinecones, listening carefully to the sounds of nature, and using our imaginations to become the tree stump statues along the way!

Our adventure was packed with valuable early years learning opportunities. The children developed their physical skills through climbing, balancing, running, and navigating uneven woodland paths, helping to build their strength, coordination, and confidence. They practised social skills by sharing discoveries, taking turns, and working together during imaginative play.

Nature provides the perfect environment for make-believe, creativity, communication, and problem-solving, and the children loved exploring the world around them through their own ideas and curiosity.

A fantastic day full of fresh air, exploration, learning, and fun! 🍂🌿✨

We had a wonderful trip to Sarah and Tim’s garden today with our friends from Poppin's Childcare and B’s Hive, as always, the children absolutely loved it. Their curiosity and fascination shone through as they explored the garden looking for creepy crawlies and learning just how important insects are for helping fruits and vegetables to grow.

The children thoroughly enjoyed feeding the chickens and were very excited to spot frogs in the pond. During our pond dipping session, we discovered water beetles and some big, fat tadpoles, which created lots of excitement and discussion.

The composting area was, once again, a huge point of interest. The children were fascinated watching the tiger worms hard at work breaking down food waste into compost and wonderfully smelly plant-feed water. Experiences like these are such a fantastic way for children to learn about nature, sustainability, life cycles, and caring for the world around them through real hands-on experiences.

🌸🦕Wow what a day trip!🦕🌸

This morning we caught the train with our friends from Poppins Childcare and Jumping Jacks Childminding for an adventure to the Titanosaur exhibit at Peterborough Cathedral. The children behaved magnificently and showed so much awe and wonder as they explored the enormous dinosaur skeleton.

We all enjoyed a picnic lunch together before heading back home. The children spoke so fondly about their trip all the way back, sharing their favourite parts of the day and chatting excitedly about dinosaurs and trains.

A wonderful day full of new experiences, friendships, learning and adventure! 🦕

We had such a brilliant time at our childminder-only STEM session run by Coram PACEY 🌿🌸🌿

Spending the day outdoors with our friends from Tiddlypeeps, the children explored, created and discovered through hands-on activities in nature. We made our own natural paints, created beautiful tree rubbings, shared books together and used magnifying glasses to take a closer look at the world around us.

There was so much curiosity and excitement as the children experimented with magnets, rolled stones and pinecones, and got creative making their own clay habitats. It was a wonderful opportunity to follow their interests, problem-solve and learn through play in a calm, natural environment.

A lovely day full of exploration, teamwork and learning.

Today we celebrated St George’s Day — a day that always holds a special place in my heart as it’s also my mum’s heavenly birthday ❤️

We were joined by our wonderful friends from Poppins Childcare for a visit to Buckden Towers, where the children loved exploring the “castle” grounds.

We wandered through the gardens, followed the woodland walk around the large pond to say hello to the ducks, and took in all the sights and sounds nature had to offer.

We also shared the story of St George and the Dragon before heading off on our very own dragon hunt to see if we could discover where it might be hiding… 🐉

A wonderful day filled with smiles, imagination, exploration, and meaningful moments 🌸

One of my favourite places to take the children is Baulk Wood. It’s a little outside of St Neots, but it holds a special place for me as my old stomping ground before moving this way.

Today we introduced Poppin’s Childcare to it, bringing along some forest school–style activities — and it couldn’t have gone better. The children explored, climbed, made nature wands, used compasses, searched for wooden animals, and created their own journey sticks.

There’s something about this wood that just feels calm and grounding. Being outside like this is where children truly thrive — and we all had such a wonderful time 🌿

We had the loveliest visit to Bunny and Bear Childminding to see their live eggs 🐣

We were so lucky that on the very morning we arrived, 7 chicks had just hatched for us to observe! The Popsy Doodles were fascinated watching them and chatting all about what was happening.

The children each made their own feathery chick to take home, which they were very proud of 🐥

My own little Popsy Doodles went back again today and absolutely loved gently handling the chicks — they’re just so soft, fluffy and adorable!

We’re really hoping to squeeze in another visit before they head off to their new homes 💛

🦣 Toddler Time - Mammoths@St Neots Museum 🦣

The Popsy Doodles had such a lovely morning at toddler time at St Neots Museum!

We explored all things mammoths and learnt about a real mammoth tooth that was discovered at Paxton Pits — the children were fascinated! (So was I!)

We then set off on our own little adventure around the museum, searching for all things big 🔍
There was lots of exploring, listening to stories, learning new things and getting creative along the way.

The Popsy Doodles had the most fantastic session at group today!

The children had the opportunity to handle lots of different creatures, showing such confidence, curiosity and bravery. From our littlest explorers at 15 months right through to 3 years old… and even 39 years old (me! 😅) everyone joined in and experienced something new.

I was so proud of them all — what a wonderful experience and such a lovely way to build confidence and curiosity about the world around us.
