We often talk about rest as though it has to look a certain way.

This weekend, I’m looking forward to some rest, but for me that doesn’t necessarily mean doing nothing.

It’s going to the gym, spending some time sitting in the peace of my therapy room, getting my house back together after having it painted, and sitting down to a lovely meal, cosy in the warmth of my lounge.

Some of that involves movement, some involves getting things done, and some involves doing very little.

But each of those things gives me something different, and they all feel restful in their own way.

I think sometimes we forget that rest is personal. What feels restful to one person might feel like hard work to someone else.

So tell me, what’s something you find restful that other people might think is anything but? 💗

When a parent is described as difficult, I wonder how often we stop to consider what they’ve been carrying.

The emails to school, the meetings, the requests for reasonable adjustments, the decisions that don’t always fit with what other people believe parenting should look like.

For some parents raising neurodivergent children, advocating for their child becomes an enormous part of everyday life.

They may be challenging decisions, questioning advice or asking for something different because they’ve watched their child struggle and know that what is currently being offered isn’t working.

And sometimes they’re doing all of this whilst exhausted, worried, isolated and questioning themselves.

I see this through my work with families and through my own experiences too.

I wonder how often we recognise the emotional cost of being the person who has to keep advocating.

How often do we ask what support the parent has? Whether they feel heard? Whether they have somewhere they can talk openly without having to defend their decisions?

Because when we focus entirely on the child’s needs, we can overlook the parent who is trying so hard to meet them, often whilst navigating systems that don’t always understand their child.

I’d be interested to hear from other professionals working with families.

How do we make sure we’re supporting the parent, not just the child?

When was the last time you gave yourself an hour that was just for you? 💗

Not an hour to catch up on everything you haven’t done. Not an hour spent thinking about what everyone else needs.

Just an hour to arrive, breathe, move a little, let go and reconnect with yourself.

I’m opening up my lovely little space in Buckden for two small group breathwork sessions in November.

We’ll use Conscious Connected Breathwork to explore what it feels like to step away from the noise of everyday life, connect with our bodies and give ourselves permission to release some of what we’ve been carrying.

There is no pressure to do anything a certain way. Just come as you are.

✨ Saturday 14 November

I was talking to a parent recently about how their child can come home from school completely overwhelmed, and it got me thinking about something I see so often in my work.

As parents, we can spend so much time trying to understand what our children need, what might be causing their overwhelm, how we can support them and what we can do differently to make things a little easier.

But what about the parent?

I think sometimes we can get to the point where we start to dread the mornings or the school pick-up, and it isn’t because we don’t want to see our children, we do, but we don’t know what the next few hours might bring. Are we going to have the patience today? Have we got the capacity to support them when we’re already exhausted ourselves?

And I wonder how many parents are walking around looking like they’re coping, simply because they have no other choice.

Behind the scenes, relationships might be struggling, family life can feel incredibly difficult and somewhere amongst all the noise we’ve stopped noticing ourselves.

I see so many parents who pour everything they have into trying to make sure their child is happy and supported, and somewhere along the way they almost forget that they exist too.

Of course we want to understand and support our children, but I think we also need to recognise what all of this is costing the parent, particularly when they’re trying to navigate systems that aren’t always meeting their child’s needs.

You can understand why your child is overwhelmed and still be overwhelmed yourself.

And perhaps we need to start asking who’s looking after the parent too. ❤️

Sunday reflections.....
I think I’ve spent a good part of my life just getting on with things.

Working, raising children, keeping everything going, trying to make sure everyone else was okay and not really stopping to think about what I needed.

And I know I’m not alone in that.

I think as women, and particularly as mums, we can become so good at coping that we don’t always notice how much it’s costing us.

Over the last few years I’ve made some pretty big changes in my life, and a lot of those changes started with asking myself questions I hadn’t really stopped to consider before.

Not always comfortable questions either!

So I thought I’d share five journal prompts inspired by some of the things I’ve explored along the way.

You don’t need a beautiful journal, a quiet house or an hour to yourself. You might just find yourself thinking about one of these questions while you’re out walking, driving or making a cup of tea.

And you certainly don’t need another thing on your to-do list.

I’m curious, is there one of these questions that stands out for you? ❤️

Does anyone else get to Friday and immediately start thinking about all the things they haven’t managed to do this week?...
16/10/2026

Does anyone else get to Friday and immediately start thinking about all the things they haven’t managed to do this week?

The emails still sitting there, the washing, the jobs around the house, the things that have been moved from one to-do list to another.

And somehow, even when we’ve had a really full week, it’s those unfinished things that seem to get all our attention.

I’ve been noticing how easy it is to turn the weekend into another opportunity to catch up.

As though we need to get everything sorted before we can properly relax or enjoy ourselves.

But when does that ever happen? There’s always something else!

I’m trying to get better at recognising that I can have things left to do and still go out and enjoy myself.

I can leave the washing, go for a walk, spend time with friends or have a lazy morning without spending the whole time thinking about what I should be doing instead.

And some weekends I’ll manage that better than others.

So perhaps this weekend we can leave a few things unfinished and make a bit of room for the things we actually enjoy.

The list isn’t going anywhere. ❤️

New small-group Breathwork Sessions in Buckden ❤️

Hello everyone!

I'm really excited to be opening up my Heart in Mind space for small-group Conscious Connected Breathwork sessions, and I'd love to welcome some local people along.

If you've never tried breathwork before, it's a guided breathing practice that gives us an opportunity to connect with our bodies, explore our emotions and take some time away from the busyness of everyday life.

Sometimes we carry so much without even realising it, and breathwork can offer a space to notice what's happening within us.

There's no pressure to feel anything in particular, release anything or get it right. Everyone's experience is different, and I'll be there to guide and support you throughout.

I'm keeping the groups small, with just six people in each session, so there's plenty of space for everyone.
