As we prepare for our year 6 children to leave primary school and ready themselves for their high school journey, I thought I'd share the meditation from the year 6 Soundbath at Stalham Infant & Junior Schools .

I know my son is so ready for High school, as my last child in primary, I'm not, but I know he will fly.

To my son J, you make me proud almost every day. You are so bright and confident. Go smash high school buddy. Love you.

Year 6 Sound Bath Guided Meditation
The Mountain Journey
Make yourself as comfortable as you can. Allow your hands to rest gently in your lap or by your sides

If it feels comfortable, close your eyes, or simply lower your gaze.

Take a slow, deep breath in through your nose... and gently breathe it out.

Once more... breathing in... and breathing out.

Allow your shoulders to soften, your face to relax, and your body to become a little heavier as you settle into this moment.

Now, imagine you are standing at the foot of a beautiful mountain. The air is fresh and clear, the birds are singing, and the sun is shining warmly on your face.

In front of you is a path leading gently upwards. At the very top is the most incredible view, although you can't quite see it yet.

You begin to walk.

Each step feels steady and comfortable.

As you walk, you notice colourful wildflowers, tall trees gently swaying in the breeze, and butterflies dancing from flower to flower.

You can hear the sound of leaves rustling and perhaps a stream flowing nearby.

With every step, you leave behind any worries you've been carrying today.

As you continue climbing, you think about the journey you've already made.

You remember your time at primary school.

The things you've learned.

The friends you've made.

The teachers who've helped you.

The moments that made you laugh.

The times when something felt difficult, but you kept going anyway.

Without even realising it, every one of those moments has helped you climb your own mountain.

Now another path is waiting for you.

Soon you'll be moving on to high school.

Perhaps you're excited about meeting new people, trying new subjects and discovering new talents.

Perhaps part of you feels nervous because things will be different.

Maybe there's a little uncertainty too, wondering what it will all be like.

Just like climbing this mountain, it's impossible to see every step before you take it.

But that's okay.

Every adventure begins with a single step.

And every step helps you grow.

As you continue your climb, you notice the path becoming brighter.

You know you're getting close to the top.

With one final gentle climb, you reach the summit.

Take a slow breath in...
..and as you look up, you're greeted by the most spectacular view.

You can see rolling hills stretching into the distance.

Woodlands, rivers and fields below.

The sky seems endless, filled with soft clouds drifting peacefully by.

Everything feels calm.

Peaceful.

Open.

Standing here, you realise this mountain is a little like your journey through primary school.

You've climbed it one step at a time.

Now you're standing at the top, ready for the next adventure.

The path ahead is new, but it is full of possibilities, new friendships, new experiences and wonderful memories still waiting to be made.

For now, there is nowhere else you need to be.

Nothing you need to do.

Simply enjoy this beautiful place.

Take in the fresh air.

Notice the colours around you.

Feel the warmth of the sunshine.

Stay here for a little while, enjoying the peaceful view, as the sounds around you become part of this special place.

As the sounds begin to fade, bring your attention back to the mountain.

Take one last look at the spectacular view before you.

Notice how calm and peaceful you feel.

When you're ready, begin walking gently back down the path.

Each step feels light and easy.

You carry with you all the happy memories you've made, everything you've learned, and the excitement of new adventures waiting just around the corner.

Soon you arrive back at the foot of the mountain.

Take a slow, deep breath in...
..and breathe out.

Begin to notice the room around you once again.

Notice the chair supporting you.

Gently wiggle your fingers...
..your toes...

Perhaps roll your shoulders if they need a little stretch.

And when you feel ready, gently open your eyes, bringing back with you the calm, the peace, and the knowledge that whatever lies ahead, you don't have to rush. You can take each new step, one at a time.
