🚗🌟 Calling All Classic, Vintage & Unique Car Owners! 🌟🚗

We're looking for owners of classic, vintage, and unusual vehicles to join us for a special Car Show at Tallington Lodge Care Home on Saturday 25th July from 2:00pm.

Our residents love seeing these amazing vehicles up close, sharing memories, and chatting with owners about their cars. Your attendance would help create a wonderful afternoon for everyone involved.

Whether you own a classic beauty, a vintage treasure, a rare model, or something a little different, we'd love to hear from you!

We had a wonderful pet therapy themed session 🐾

Residents enjoyed a quiz and discussion all about unusual pets, exploring animals people keep such as snakes, spiders and reptiles, along with a special turtle visit which everyone loved 🐢

We also shared stories about our own pets and memories 💭

We got creative with fun food activities, making lion faces 🦁, kiwi tortoises 🐢 and a pineapple crocodile 🐊

A very special part of our home is Jean’s dog Heidi 🐶💛 who lives here with us. She is a much-loved member of the home and brings daily comfort, companionship and joy to our residents. Heidi enjoys lots of cuddles and attention, and has a wonderful calming presence that everyone benefits from.

We also explored alternative pet therapy using faux pets. Our “Brush the Plush” activity was a big success—calming, therapeutic and especially beneficial for our residents living with dementia.

We finished with pet-themed puzzles, encouraging teamwork and engagement 🧩

A lovely session full of smiles, creativity and meaningful moments.

🏆🎂 The winner of the Country Court Bake-Off Competition is... Charlotte Legge from Castor Lodge Care Home! 🎂🏆

Charlotte wowed the judges with her incredible campervan-themed birthday cake, featuring four delicious layers: Coffee & Walnut, Lemon Drizzle, Red Velvet and Victoria Sponge. Inspired by an era loved by residents, the ambitious design showcased exceptional creativity, skill and attention to detail.

This year's competition celebrated the amazing birthday cakes our teams lovingly create for residents and colleagues, making special occasions even more memorable. Judged on presentation, taste, innovation and baking skill, the standard was incredibly high.

A huge congratulations also goes to our fantastic finalists:

Rare and very special Birthday celebrations 🎂🎉

At Tallington Lodge, we had double the reason to celebrate this week. As the world marked the 100th birthday of the legendary naturalist David Attenborough, we were also honouring a very special milestone much closer to home.

Our wonderful resident Ted reached his own centenary on the very same day—making it a truly remarkable shared birthday. Surrounded by friends, staff, and celebration, Ted shared his advice for life:

“Whatever you decide to do in life, make sure you do it well—and with passion.”

The celebrations were made even more special as fellow residents created a beautiful 100th birthday card for Ted, which was proudly presented by Joan, who has also reached the incredible milestone of 100.

Ted also received a birthday card from His Majesty the King, marking this very special occasion, and in return, he shared his own birthday message for Sir David Attenborough—one centenarian to another.

While Sir David has spent a lifetime telling the story of our planet, we feel just as privileged to celebrate Ted’s incredible life, filled with his own achievements, memories, and wisdom.

We were also delighted that this special shared milestone was featured by the Stamford Mercury, helping us share Ted’s wonderful story with the wider community.
