Menopause isn’t just hormonal, it’s neurological.

Changes in hearing and cognition can happen at the same time, and often go unnoticed or get brushed off as “just part of ageing.”

If conversations feel harder, noise feels overwhelming, or your brain feels more fatigued, there may be more going on than you think.

This is exactly why hearing needs to be part of the menopause conversation.

🧠👂 Hearing loss and dementia — what’s the link?

You’ve probably seen the headlines…
“Hearing aids may reduce the risk of dementia.”
“New study shows connection between hearing loss and cognitive decline.”

But what does the evidence actually say?

Recent emerging research suggests that treating hearing loss — especially with hearing aids — might help slow down cognitive decline in some people. One big study (called the ACHIEVE trial) even found that hearing aids reduced cognitive decline by nearly 50% in people at higher risk of dementia.

Now, this is still developing research, and we don’t have all the answers yet. But the connection between hearing and brain health is becoming clearer — and it’s a great reason to take your hearing seriously.
