Great share MSK Therapy and Sports Injury Clinic. Thank you!
Over the years there has been much debate on how we should treat and manage acute injuries. In the past, you may have seen this managed by RICE - Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. However, conflicting results and current research suggests new management strategies should be encouraged to help optimise recovery, something we have been encouraging for a number of years now.
The British Journal of Sports medicine released an article in 2019 supported by up-to-date evidence that may challenge some people’s current injury management. Guidance now follows the anagram of PEACE (for initial soft tissue injury management) & LOVE (for subsequent management) which will be detailed below.
PEACE stands for Protect, Elevate, Avoid Anti-inflammatory Modalities, Compress, Educate.
LOVE stands for Load, Optimism, Vascularisation, Exercise
If you're unsure what to do for an injury, get in touch. Our team of physiotherapists and soft tissue therapists are able to assist you with injury management and recovery.
