🌿🕯️✨📚🔮🦢🌳🍁☕️

I’ve always been interested in the natural world, and here’s why:

I love history (although I’m not particularly good at it). I find it fascinating learning about the way people have lived, what they’ve relied on and what they’ve learnt from the world as it was then. I think we can utilise a lot of that and going back to basics would really help the humans we are today.

I love being outdoors. I love living in England and having proper seasons — autumn is my fav :)

I’m also a complete homebody. Being at home, in England and around my family is genuinely one of my favourite things. I love reading too, disappearing into completely different worlds for a while.

And then there are the things that are actually around us every day.

Plants are everywhere. They’ve been used by people for thousands of years, and some of them have so many fascinating properties. I find it amazing that so much of what we need to eat, learn about and make use of is quite literally growing around us.

And I’ve always loved animals. It’s amazing having a connection with another living thing when you can’t speak the same language. They have their own personalities, feelings and ways of communicating, and somehow they often seem much kinder than we are.. again, I think we could learn a lot from them..

I think all of these things are probably why I’ve ended up so interested in nutrition, herbalism and the natural world.

My work has always been about more than food and nutrition. It’s about understanding where our nourishment comes from, learning from what’s around us and finding ways to bring some of that into everyday life.

I’ve gone on a rampage but I think I needed to express my way of working and why I have the philosophy I do, I think the human race today has over complicated a lot of things and we need to take things right back to basics🫶

The Herbal Notebook🕯️
I’ve started a new series… a herb a week 🌿

Where I can share some of my knowledge on the herbs and plants around us that we see nearly every day.

Each week I’ll be delving into the history of the plant, traditional uses, folklore, and the ways these plants have been used to support health and wellbeing throughout history.

So, starting with the nettle… an understated plant that has much more to it than its sting, and it’s been valued for centuries! 🌱

Nettle has long been appreciated in traditional herbalism. It has been used in preparations such as ointments, tinctures and teas, and the young leaves can also be eaten once cooked or dried.

It’s also a surprisingly nutrient-rich wild green, containing nutrients including vitamin C, vitamin K, iron and calcium.

And now for my favourite part…

A little piece of folklore & history: 🏛️

Roman writers described the use of nettles for stimulating the skin — including the practice of rubbing or beating the skin with nettles to produce a warming, tingling sensation.

🌿🌿🌿🌿

There is so much more to discover about this plant, and I’m excited to share what I find along the way.

Soon, I’ll be launching something where others can get involved, something where we can learn about plants & herbs hands on…

keep an eye!👀🌳

I aim to eat 30+ different plants a week which is a lot easier than you think, seasonings, ingredients, and snacks quickly contribute to this and it’s actually really easy! There are lots of hidden plants that most people don’t realise work towards that 30 goal!🌱🍌🍓🥑🍋

If you or anyone you know would benefit from some nutrition or exercise advice, please drop me a message and I’d be happy to help!

Really enjoyed this one☕️ It’s great to talk to like-minded people who share similar perspectives. Loved hearing more about the free health check sessions over coffee too - a few exciting things in the works 🌱

The days are getting longer and the evenings a little lighter🌿

A perfect time to start making small changes - not because you have to, but because it feels like a natural shift.

Nature doesn’t rush, it just changes gradually, and maybe this is how we should be too.

No pressure, no all or nothing… just small steps in better directions!

That might look like:
- adding some colour to your plate.
- going on a little walk
- drinking plenty of water
- or simply eating a bit more regularly

Nothing extreme - just small changes that are likely to stick! 🍓🥑🪻

Happy Easter💛

You’re allowed to enjoy the chocolate without earning it, tracking it, or feeling bad after it.

Whether it’s dark, milk or somewhere in between - it all has a place in a balanced way of eating.

I hope you all have a really lovely and relaxing Easter weekend🐣
