The lotus begins its life in mud.

Dark.

Dirty.

Hidden beneath the water.

Yet it does not remain there.

Slowly, it rises.

Through the water.

Toward the light.

Until one day it blooms into something beautiful, untouched by the mud from which it came. 🌸

The Buddha often used the lotus as a symbol of the human journey.

Because our lives are not very different.

Every person faces pain.

Disappointment.

Loss.

Fear.

Heartbreak.

No one escapes the mud of life.

But what matters is not what happens to us.

What matters is what we become because of it. 🤍

Some people allow suffering to make them bitter.

Others allow suffering to make them wiser.

Some people spread anger after being hurt.

Others choose compassion because they understand pain.

Like the lotus, we have a choice.

We can remain trapped in the mud.

Or we can grow beyond it.

And there is another lesson hidden in the lotus.

Even after it blooms beautifully, it does not last forever.

Its petals fade.

Its colors disappear.

It eventually returns to nature.

Just like our lives.

This is the truth of impermanence that the Buddha taught.

Everything that arises will pass away.

Youth.

Beauty.

Success.

Possessions.

Even this body.

Nothing can be held forever. 🕊️

Yet this truth is not meant to make us sad.

It is meant to make us awake.

Because when we understand that life is temporary, we stop wasting it.

We become kinder.

More grateful.

More compassionate.

More present.

The lotus teaches both truths at once:

🌸 Rise above your suffering.

🍂 And remember that everything is impermanent.

Perhaps that is why the lotus remains one of the most powerful symbols in Buddhism.

Not because it is beautiful.

But because it reminds us how to live.

And how to let go.

A few weeks ago I started teaching Reiki with Flourish CIC ✨

I first studied Reiki in Thailand over 15 years ago, and honestly… I’m amazed it’s taken me this long to actually start teaching 🙈 (if Flourish hadn’t asked, I’m not sure I’d have got out of my own way - so thank you… and thanks, inner voice 😅)

It’s been such a beautiful reminder that there’s so much I want to share - Reiki, crystal healing, chakra balancing and the more holistic side of what I offer 🌿💎

It’s easy to forget that just because something feels familiar to you, it isn’t familiar to everyone… so I’m taking baby steps and starting with a very grounded blog post:

As we move into the Year of the Horse, I can really feel a shift - momentum building, things moving forward, and a quiet invitation to step a little more visibly into my work with Wild Lotus.

There’s been a lot unfolding behind the scenes, and today feels like the right moment to share something simple but meaningful - my new logo and a calmer, more grounded colour palette.

This feels like a fresh chapter. Clearer. More focused. More aligned.

Thank you for being here and following along - I’m looking forward to sharing what’s coming next.

Not gonna lie, it's been a tough year, with lots of ups and downs but this bunch of beauties has got me through.

I lost three loved ones in three months and at times have wanted to give up on everything, but this last few months things have felt like they are on the up and I'm looking to 2026 with hope and excitement in my heart.

Thanks to everyone who has supported me this year:

Two rounds of my large event, Collective Wellbeing 🪷🧘‍♀️🪷

One year of working at .studio
Seeing my amazing clients

Joining the team in September and making some beautiful friends along the way

Connecting with and teaching holistic and Reiki

And starting to run my mini retreats and sound journeys 🔮🕉💖

And all whilst working at The Children's Society Charity Bookshop with the amazing team of volunteers we have there 📚🙏📚

Remember to celebrate those wins guys, hug your loved ones at every opportunity and let them know how loved they are.
