The idea of trying to talk about everything going on in your head can be incredibly daunting when you can’t even make sense of it yourself, but we are used to it! There’s no rule in where to start with counselling and even just the realisation of how “messy” it feels up there can be valuable to work on.

How can we help?
If you were to try to organise your wardrobe and when you opened the doors, it was hanger to hanger and clothes etc were falling out, chances are would take everything out and put it on the bed to sort it. Then, in time you would decide what to keep and what to throw away and you would organise it as you put it back.

This is exactly what we do in counselling but with everything you’re storing in your mind.

Often the strongest people are the ones who need support the most. Reach out to your “strong” friend today and ask them how they are. If you’re the strong one and you need support, we can help. Carrying your own load, without taking everyone else’s as well can be a struggle for even the strongest of people.

Do you ever question if you’re normal? Or feel as if you’re not?

Have you ever stopped to ask yourself about your definition of “normal” and why you feel the need to fit within this definition? Normality is subjective and once you stop trying to fit within a small fixed box and work towards self acceptance, it’s incredible to see how ”different” you can feel.

Do you feel dissatisfied with your life? Maybe you feel like you’re a broken record and have felt like this for as long as you can remember? You probably can’t see a way for things to change?

Coming to counselling can help you to identify the root of what makes you unhappy and find the route you want to take to make a change. Here at Calm Minds, we believe that each person has, within themselves, the tools that they need to help them live the healthy and happy life they’re looking for, they just might not be able to see them yet. And that’s where we come in!

Many people come to counselling with a set goal in mind and for many of these people, the goal is overcoming past trauma.

These goals may be working towards a direct recovery, by facing and reflecting on the previous trauma or an indirect goal based around changing negative mindsets or behaviours, which may have been learnt over a length of time which started or were triggered by the trauma.

Regardless of the goal, it’s important to remember that no recovery is always going to feel like a strong, upwards line with a steady gradient. Recovery is always filled with ups and downs. Steps can sometimes feel forwards and backwards but I always say to clients that if you zoom out far enough, you wont see the bumps in the road, you’ll see that strong, upwards line with a steady gradient that you’re looking for.
