If you are sat looking at your diary for next week and worrying why it is so quiet, please don’t let those empty spaces make you question how good you are at what you do.
I know that’s easier said than done. When you’ve put so much into training, finally found something you’re passionate about and taken the leap into building your own business, a quiet diary can feel incredibly personal.
You start wondering what you’re doing wrong, why other therapists seem busier than you and whether you’re ever going to get to the point where you have a steady flow of clients.
But being a brilliant therapist and knowing how to consistently attract clients are two completely different skill sets.
You can give the most amazing treatments, genuinely care about every person who walks through your door and still struggle with the business side, because knowing how to market yourself, understand your ideal client, become visible, talk about what you do and turn enquiries into bookings isn’t something most of us were taught when we qualified.
It’s something we have to learn.
So rather than looking at those gaps in your diary and thinking, “Maybe I’m just not good enough at this,” try asking yourself a different question.
What could I learn or do differently that would help more of the right people find me?
Because a quiet diary isn’t a verdict on your ability as a therapist. And once you stop taking it personally, you can start looking at what your business actually needs from you next.
