Meet Mr Skelly, the internet’s favourite skeleton, now on the page for the first time.

In this beautifully hand-painted journey, Mr Skelly wanders through lush landscapes and hard terrain alike, moving through joy, loss, grief and love in search of home.

“How lucky am I, to have lost what I wanted, to find what I deserved.”

Gentle words paired with hand-painted imagery offer a softer light on what’s often overlooked. A quiet, comforting reminder that we’re all, in the end, made of the same bones.

Perfect for anyone who needs a little stillness and gratitude on the shelf this season.

Been looking forward to this one for a while, we have copies available in Romiley today. 💀🤍💜

The Whispering Jacarandas - in conversation with Zahirra Dayal

📍Serenity Booksellers (Stockport), 11 Warren Street, SK1 1UD
🗓️ Thursday 27th August 2026

Dealing with themes of colourism, mixed-race identity and sisterhood, Zahirra Dayal’s stunning debut novel The Whispering Jacarandas is a compelling, character-driven story set in post-independence Zimbabwe that follows two sisters, Amira and Zaynah, whose lives are fractured by an act of violence within their family during Ramadan. We’re delighted to be welcoming Zahirra to Stockport (aka - 11 Warren Street) on Thursday 27th August when she’ll be discussing her work with Isabelle Kenyon (Director of Fly on the Wall Press). The talk will be followed by an audience Q&A and booksigning.

Tickets are £5.00 each or £12.99 including a copy of The Whispering Jacarandas. Light refreshments are included in the ticket price. Tickets at the counters or via the link in comments!

Event starts at 6:30pm (doors at 6pm)

Mischance Creek - Garry Disher in conversation with Chris McDonald

📍Serenity Booksellers (Romiley), Stockport, SK6 4EA
🗓️ Thursday 23rd July 2026

Known as Australia’s King of Crime, 🇦🇺Garry Disher is a multiple Ned Kelly Award-winning author and we’re overjoyed to be bringing him to Romiley to celebrate his latest Paul Hirsch mystery Mischance Creek - a tense thriller set in a small rural Australian town on the verge of breaking point following the worst drought in a generation. Garry will be in conversation with author Chris McDonald (The Wrong Man) and the talk will be followed by an audience Q&A and booksigning.

Tickets are just £6 or £9.99 including a copy of Mischance Creek.

Event starts at 6:30pm (doors at 6pm)

About the book:

A DEADLY DROUGHT. A BROKEN TOWN.

It’s the worst drought in a generation, and the people of Senior Constable Paul Hirschhausen’s vast outback beat are suffering. Foreclosures. Failing businesses. Petty quarrels that are spiralling out of control.

So when a naive tourist runs into a ditch beyond the ruins of Mischance Creek, Hirsch is relieved to step away from Tiverton. But Annika Nordrum asks for more than just roadside assistance. Her father’s body was found at the bottom of a mineshaft seven years ago - his death ruled an accident - and her mother hasn’t been seen since. Can Hirsch close this cold case before the town reaches breaking point?
