This Van Can is back! Throughout this month, the mobile cancer awareness van will be visiting locations across Stockport to offer free, friendly conversations with specially trained staff.

The team will be available to talk about spotting the early signs of cancer, answer questions and provide information on when to seek advice.

The confirmed dates across Stockport are from 10 am–4pm.
Friday 7 August - Wickes Stockport, 4 Manchester Road
Thursday 13th August – Asda, Marple
Friday 14th August – Hazel Grove
Saturday 15th August – Stockport Market
Thursday 20th August – Morrisons, Bredbury

If you're aged 55–74, are registered with a GP practice in Greater Manchester, and are a current or former smoker, you may be eligible for a free Lung Cancer Screening appointment.

Lung cancer screening can help detect problems early, often before symptoms develop, giving the best chance of successful treatment. Please attend your appointment, even if you feel well.

Everyone who meets the eligibility criteria is welcome to attend, regardless of their sexuality or gender. We know LGBTQ+ people are more likely to smoke and may be less likely to seek medical advice when unwell. The Lung Cancer Screening service is inclusive and non-judgemental, providing a safe space where you can speak openly with staff if you have any concerns or feel anxious.

This Van Can is back! Throughout August, the mobile cancer awareness van will be visiting locations across Stockport to offer free, friendly conversations with specially trained staff.

The team will be available to talk about spotting the early signs of cancer, answer questions and provide information on when to seek advice.
The confirmed date so far is Friday 7 August at Wickes Stockport, 4 Manchester Road, from 10am–4pm.

Talking about how you feel can be difficult, but you don’t have to face things alone. Mentell provides free, safe and confidential talking groups for men aged 18 and over, offering a space to listen, share experiences and connect with others without judgement.

The Stockport Mentell circle meets weekly and welcomes men who would like to talk or simply listen. Taking the first step and reaching out can make a real difference.
