The team at John Brierley & Son Funeral Directors recently had the privilege of conducting a truly special farewell for a much-loved lady.

Held within the beautiful setting of a 200 year old church, the service offered a slightly different and deeply personal approach to saying goodbye. While the ceremony itself took place upstairs, she rested peacefully in a chapel lounge below, surrounded by her favourite music playing softly, flowers and cherished family photographs.

This thoughtful arrangement created a calm and comforting space, allowing family and friends the time to sit with their loved one, and their memories, without any sense of rush before and after the service. It was a gentle, meaningful way to reflect, connect, and say farewell in their own time.

Moments like these remind us that a funeral doesn’t have to follow a set pattern. It can be shaped around the person, their story, and what brings comfort to those left behind. A more relaxed and personal setting can offer space to grieve, to remember, and to celebrate a life in a way that truly feels right.

Thanks to your kindness, almost 60 Easter eggs have now been delivered to Francis House Children’s Hospice today. These thoughtful donations will help bring joy and smiles to the children and families, making their Easter that little bit more special.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated. Your support truly makes a difference. And a special mention to Cheshire Flowers for their wonderful and generous contribution too 🌸💙

Today we had the honour of supporting a truly touching and heartfelt funeral service for a much loved lady.

It was a beautiful tribute filled with warmth, respect, and love from all who knew her. The Brierleys team wore Scottish flag pins with pride, a small but meaningful gesture that reflected her heritage and spirit.

As we made our way past her home and walked the path through the beautiful grounds at Stockport Crematorium, the air was filled with the moving and unmistakable sound of Scottish bagpipes. It was a powerful and emotional moment that will stay with us all.

A perfect farewell to a remarkable lady. 💙🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

🐣 Easter Egg Appeal for Francis House Children’s Hospice 🐣

This Easter, we’re delighted to support the incredible work of Francis House Children’s Hospice, and we’d love your help to bring a little extra joy to the children and families they care for. 💛

We are kindly asking for donations of Easter eggs, big or small, every single one will make a difference. Your generosity will help brighten the holiday for children facing the toughest of challenges.

📍 Donations can be dropped off at our branch, John Brierley Funeral Directors, during our usual opening hours. Monday to Friday 9am until 5pm.

All Easter eggs collected will be delivered directly to Francis House on 02/04/26 after lunch in time for Easter.

To everyone facing Mother’s Day without their mum this year, please know that you are not alone. Your memories, love, and the moments you shared will always remain in your heart.

Today we remember the incredible mums who are no longer with us but whose love continues to guide and inspire us every day.

All of our thoughts are with the families and individuals who find today especially difficult.

Today our team at John Brierley and Son Funeral Directors had the privilege of spending the day volunteering and supporting the wonderful team at The Wellspring Stockport 💚💜

We had the chance to meet some truly amazing people who work tirelessly every day to provide vital support to those who need it most. Seeing firsthand the compassion, care, and dedication behind the service was genuinely heartwarming and inspiring.

Thank you so much for welcoming us, for showing us the incredible work you do, and for everything you continue to do to support people who are struggling. We look forward to helping again in the near future 💙
