I’ve noticed something about myself this week.
At 47, I’m definitely noticing that the effects of perimenopause around my cycle are much stronger than they used to be.
I’ve felt tired, I’ve been a bit more reactive with the children, I’ve not eaten brilliantly and, if I’m honest, I’ve had much less energy for showing up on social media.
The interesting thing is, I know that next week I’ll probably feel completely different. I’ll have loads of ideas, want to be on camera and feel much more energised again.
As a certified women’s coach, one of the things I learnt through my training is that we aren’t designed to feel the same every day. Different parts of our cycle can bring different strengths, different energy and different capacity.
The problem is, we often expect ourselves to show up with the same energy and productivity every single day, and then we give ourselves a hard time when we can’t.
I’m learning to work with my body rather than constantly fighting against it.
I’d love to know… have you noticed your energy changing through perimenopause or around your cycle?
If this stage of life has left you feeling like you’ve lost a bit of yourself, you’re not alone. Alongside my physiotherapy work, I also coach women through the emotional and mindset side of these transitions, helping them better understand themselves and find confidence again.
