🌟 UN Public Service Day 🌟

Today we recognise and celebrate the people who dedicate their careers to serving our communities and improving lives through public service.

At our practice, we are proud to work alongside so many dedicated professionals, from GPs, nurses, healthcare assistants, reception and administrative teams to pharmacists, emergency responders, teachers, social care staff, and local government workers, who support people every day.

Public Service Day highlights the vital role these individuals play in building healthier, safer, and more inclusive communities.

πŸ’™ Thank you to all public servants for your commitment, compassion, and hard work. Your contribution makes a real difference to the lives of those you serve.

Windrush Day

Today we celebrate and honour the Windrush Generation and their descendants, whose contributions have helped shape modern Britain.

Windrush Day is also a time to reflect on the challenges many faced, including discrimination, racism, and the injustice of the Windrush Scandal, which highlighted the devastating consequences of people being wrongly told they had no right to remain in the country they had called home for decades.

Take time to learn more about the history of Windrush Day and the experiences of the Windrush Generation:

🌍 National Clean Air Day 🌍

Did you know that air pollution is linked to between 29,000 and 43,000 deaths every year in the UK?

Both the World Health Organization and the UK Government recognise air pollution as the largest environmental threat to our health. It affects our lungs, heart, and overall wellbeing – but together, we can help make a difference.

This National Clean Air Day, take a moment to learn how air pollution impacts our communities and discover simple actions we can all take to improve air quality.

🧩 Autistic Pride Day 2026 🧩

Today we celebrate Autistic Pride Day – a day led by Autistic people to celebrate Autistic identity, promote acceptance, and champion a world where Autistic people are respected, supported, and free to be themselves.

This year's theme, "Noticing is not the same as acting", highlights an important message: while awareness and conversations about autism have grown, meaningful change in funding, employment, and support systems has not always followed.

Autistic Pride Day 2026 also marks the launch of the call for an Autism Standard – a push for systems and organisations to move beyond awareness and demonstrate real action that improves the lives of Autistic people.

Let's use this day to listen, learn, and help create communities where Autistic people are valued, included, and empowered every day of the year.
