💛 World Hepatitis Day – Let's Break It Down 💛

Today, on World Hepatitis Day, we're helping raise awareness of a disease that affects millions of people worldwide.

287 million people are living with viral hepatitis – the world's deadliest communicable disease – and most don't even know it.
Viral hepatitis often has no symptoms, meaning many people are unaware they are infected until serious liver damage has already occurred.

Yet despite nearly 2 million new cases every year, hepatitis is both preventable and treatable. We have fast and accurate testing, effective and affordable treatments, and a proven vaccine for hepatitis B. We already have the tools needed to eliminate hepatitis.

So, what's standing in the way? Low awareness, misinformation, myths and stigma continue to prevent people from accessing testing, treatment and support.

This year's theme is "Let's Break It Down" – breaking down the barriers that stand between us and a hepatitis-free world.

Take action today. Learn the facts, share reliable information, and help raise awareness in your community. Together, we can break down the barriers and move closer to eliminating hepatitis for good.

💜 International Self-Care Day – 24 July 💜

Today is International Self-Care Day, a reminder that looking after your health and wellbeing should be a priority every day of the year.

The date, 24/7, symbolises that self-care is something we can practise 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through small, positive choices that support our physical and mental wellbeing.

Remember, self-care isn't selfish—it's essential. When we take care of ourselves, we're better equipped to support those around us and cope with life's challenges.

This International Self-Care Day, take a moment to check in with yourself and make one small change that supports your wellbeing.

Your health matters. Your wellbeing matters. You matter. 💜

Talk To Us Month 💚

This Talk To Us Month, we're supporting the Samaritans' message that talking can save lives.

Life can feel overwhelming at times, but no one should have to face difficult moments alone. Taking the time to check in with a friend, colleague, family member or neighbour could make a real difference.

A simple:
💚 "How are you?"
💚 "Do you want to talk?"
💚 "I'm here to listen."
can open the door to an important conversation.

If you're struggling, or if something is on your mind, please reach out. Talking about how you're feeling is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Because every conversation matters.

Sarcoma Awareness Month (1st–31st July) 💛

July marks Sarcoma Awareness Month—a time to raise awareness about sarcoma, a rare type of cancer that can develop in the bones or soft tissues, including muscles, fat, nerves, and blood vessels.
Because sarcomas are rare, they can often be harder to diagnose. That’s why awareness is so important. Knowing the signs and symptoms can help people seek medical advice earlier.

⚠️ Symptoms to be aware of:

A lump or swelling that is increasing in size
Persistent bone pain or tenderness
Unexplained pain that doesn’t go away
Changes in how a limb feels or functions

💬 This month, let’s:

Help spread awareness and understanding
Support those affected and their families
Encourage people to seek advice if something doesn’t feel right

Early diagnosis can make a difference. If you notice any unusual or persistent changes, please don’t ignore them—get checked.
Together, we can raise awareness and support everyone affected by sarcoma 💛

☀️ Stay Safe in the Heatwave! 🌡️

With temperatures soaring, it’s important to look after yourself and those around you. Here are a few simple tips to stay cool and safe:

💧 Keep hydrated – Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don’t feel thirsty.

🧴 Protect your skin – Use sunscreen, wear a hat, and seek shade where possible.

🏠 Stay cool indoors – Close curtains during the hottest parts of the day and keep windows open at night.

👵 Check on others – Elderly neighbours, young children, and pets are especially vulnerable.

👕 Dress smart – Light, loose-fitting clothing helps your body stay cool.

🚫 Avoid peak heat – Try to stay out of the sun between 11am and 3pm.

⚠️ Heat exhaustion and heatstroke can come on quickly—listen to your body and seek help if you feel unwell.

Let’s all take care of ourselves and each other during this hot spell 💛

Heatstroke is a medical emergency – and with very high temperatures in parts of the country, it’s more important than ever to know the signs.

Find out how to spot it, what to do, and when to call 999.
