An incredible part of Staffordshire's haunted history & now on display at our Museum finally we now own a collection of artefacts from 1 of Staffordshire's most haunted locations
"The Leopard Hotel" The original rocking chair from the building & these are pieces of wood from 2 of the old hotel doors & a set of original hotel door keys to sit alongside our doll Molly which was also homed there for many years & 1 of the original marble candle holders from the building. Haunted History of the building dating back origanally to 1640 then serving as a coaching Inn from 1765 & then by 1878 the inn had become a hotel with over sixty rooms the Leopard Hotel also known years ago as the Savoy of the Midlands. It holds a dark & destructive past with recorded paranormal activity with some researchers claiming the spirit of a tall man with a goatie beard and side burns. He is nasty and it is said he had murdered a woman here.
The Grey lady Mary who walks the building & can be heard singing or screaming.
The spirit of James Norris walks around the building, he was a larger than life character who was rich and liked to show off wealth.
The disfigured drunken old woman in the cellar named Margaret. Is this Molly Leigh?
Many items seen moving around the Hotel.
Some guests have claimed to have been held against a wall by their throats.
Doors open and close & heard slamming.
Legend says that two underground rivers cross under the pub and at this spot someone made a pack with the devil.
Children have been seen and heard in the cellar. They could have come from the workhouse to wash their clothes in one of the rivers. They are believed to be aged as young as 5 years old to early teens.
