๐Ÿ’› World Su***de Prevention Day โ€“ 10 September 2026 ๐Ÿ’›

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day, a time to raise awareness, encourage open conversations and remind people that help is available.

The theme for 2024โ€“2026 is โ€œChanging the Narrative on Su***deโ€, with the call to action โ€œStart the Conversation.โ€

Sometimes, simply asking someone โ€œAre you okay?โ€ or taking the time to listen can make a difference. You don't need to have all the answers โ€” being there, listening without judgement and helping someone find support can be incredibly important.

๐Ÿ’ฌ If youโ€™re struggling, you donโ€™t have to face it alone.
Talk to someone you trust, contact your GP, or seek help from one of the services below:

๐Ÿ“ž Samaritans: Call 116 123 โ€“ free, day or night
๐ŸŒ https://www.samaritans.org/how-we-can-help/contact-samaritan/

๐Ÿ“ฑ NHS urgent mental health support: Call 111 and select the mental health option where available.
๐ŸŒ https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/mental-health-services/where-to-get-urgent-help-for-mental-health/

๐Ÿšจ If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999 or go to A&E.

๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธThe International Association for Su***de Prevention also encourages people to light a candle at 8pm on 10 September to show support for su***de prevention, remember loved ones lost to su***de and stand in solidarity with those affected.

Start the conversation. Listen. Be there. You could make a difference. ๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ  You can have your blood pressure checked at home, at your GP practice, or through other health services such as pharmacies.
