A fantastic result for a cause close to Andy's heart 💚

As a volunteer with Green Door, Andy knows first-hand the difference the charity makes through activities such as adapted cycling, canoeing, and history walks 🚲

To raise money for the charity, Andy completed a sponsored swim and walk, supported by fundraising events including a quiz night, raffle, and bake sale 🧁

Recently, he handed over the funds raised to help Green Door continue its valuable work 👏

🎣🐟 Fishing Group Adventures! 🐟🎣

It was another fantastic day out with our fishing group, and today we had some serious competition on the waters! 😆🎣

Both Andy and Simon managed to catch some fish, but today the bragging rights definitely belonged to Simon! 🏆🐟 Simon managed to reel in an impressive THREE fish! 🎣🎣🎣

There was plenty of healthy competition, laughter and excitement throughout the session, and it was brilliant seeing both lads enjoying themselves and getting stuck into our fishing adventures.

A massive well done to Andy and Simon on their catches today — you both did brilliantly! 👏👏

And of course, a huge thank you to our resident fishing expert Alison for sharing her knowledge, patience and expertise with the group. 🎣💙

🎉 Simon Takes the Crown at Clubhouse! 🏆

Today we headed out into the community and visited The Clubhouse in Newcastle with Simon, where the afternoon was packed with fun, laughter and a little bit of healthy competition! 😄

Simon enjoyed a couple of games of table tennis against his 1:1, Shauna 🏓 before we took a well-earned drink break to cool down and combat the heat ☀️🥤.

Then it was time for crazy golf ⛳ — and let’s just say the competitive spirit was well and truly alive! 😂

After an afternoon of laughs, friendly rivalry and plenty of fun, it was safe to say that Simon was the overall champion! 🏆👏

Trips like this are so important as they give our residents the opportunity to get out into the community, try new experiences, build confidence, socialise and simply enjoy themselves. We love seeing Simon making memories, having fun and showing us what he can do! ❤️

A fantastic afternoon all round — although Shauna might be needing a rematch! 😉🏓⛳

🎓🌟 Congratulations, Nikki! 🌟🎓

We are delighted to celebrate a fantastic achievement for our Activity Coordinator, Nikki, who has been working hard towards her NVQ Level 3 since August last year! 👏💙

After months of dedication, hard work and balancing her studies alongside her role here at Scotia Heights, today Nikki has submitted her final assignment to be marked off! 📝🎉

She will now be waiting to sit her End Point Assessment, which will be the final step towards completing her qualification. We are incredibly proud of the commitment she has shown throughout her NVQ journey and the knowledge and skills she has continued to develop along the way.

At Scotia Heights, we believe in investing in and further developing our staff. 🌱 We are proud to offer a wide range of qualifications, training opportunities and courses to support our team in developing their skills, progressing within their careers and reaching their full potential.

A huge well done, Nikki — what an achievement! We can’t wait to see you smash the final stage of your NVQ! 💙👏🎓

🌟 Service User of the Day – Estelle! 🌟

Today, we were delighted to celebrate Estelle as our Service User of the Day! 💜

As part of her special day, Estelle enjoyed a spot of retail therapy in the community, heading out with staff for a visit to our local ASDA. 🛒😊

Estelle had a fantastic time choosing a variety of items from the supermarket, taking the opportunity to make her own choices and enjoy some quality time out in the community. She was in great spirits throughout the trip, sharing plenty of laughs and jokes with staff and creating some lovely memories along the way! 🛍️💕

Celebrating our Service User of the Day is an important part of promoting person-centred care. It gives us the opportunity to recognise each individual, celebrate their personality, interests, choices and achievements, and ensure that everyone has opportunities to feel valued and included. 🌟

Days like today are a wonderful reminder that the little things can make a big difference. Supporting our service users to make their own choices, enjoy meaningful activities and engage with their local community helps promote independence, confidence, wellbeing and quality of life. 💜

🌊☀️ Seaside Sensory Afternoon at Scotia Heights! 🐚🏖️

We brought a little bit of the seaside to Scotia Heights today! 🌊💙

Our Activities Team created a lovely seaside sensory scene filled with different textures, objects and sounds, and we took the session around the home so that everyone had the opportunity to join in and enjoy the experience. 🐚

Throughout the afternoon, we chatted about memories of seaside holidays, from childhood trips with family to favourite days spent by the coast. It was lovely to hear the different memories and stories that came flooding back as we explored the sensory items together. 🥰

Our service users enjoyed getting hands-on and exploring the different textures, as well as listening to a range of seaside sounds. These sounds and sensory experiences sparked lots of conversations and created some lovely talking points throughout the session. 🌊🐚🎶

Sensory activities are such an important part of life at Scotia Heights. They provide opportunities for engagement, communication, reminiscence and social interaction, while stimulating the senses and supporting emotional wellbeing. Most importantly, sensory sessions can be adapted to suit different abilities, allowing everyone to participate in their own way and enjoy meaningful experiences. 💙

🌞🚲 A Sunny Day Out at Westport Lake! 🚲🍦

What a lovely afternoon we’ve had today! 💛

Today, two of our service users, Andy and Simon, enjoyed a fantastic trip out to Westport Lake, making the most of the beautiful sunshine and getting some fresh air. 🌳☀️

Andy and Simon enjoyed a leisurely bike ride around the lake, accompanied by our wonderful HCA’s Megan and Derek. 🚲💨 It was lovely to see them getting active, enjoying the surroundings and taking in all the beautiful scenery along the way. 🌿🦆

After their bike ride, it was time to sit back, relax and enjoy a well-deserved ice cream in the sunshine! 🍦😎

Days like today are so important for our service users. Getting outdoors and enjoying the sunshine can provide opportunities for physical activity, fresh air, social interaction and positive wellbeing. It can also help promote independence, boost mood and provide a change of scenery from the usual daily routine. 💚

Most importantly, it’s about creating meaningful experiences, making memories and having fun together! 🥰

A huge well done to Andy and Simon for making the most of the sunshine, and a big thank you to Megan and Derek for supporting them on such a lovely outing. 💛

🌟 What a lovely morning we’ve had! 🌟

Today, Simon enjoyed a lovely morning out in the community, filled with good food, a little shopping and plenty of smiles! 😊❤️

We started our trip by heading out for a pub lunch, and we ended up stopping at Wetherspoons, where Simon enjoyed a delicious Southern Fried Chicken Basket! 🍗🍟 Simon really enjoyed sitting down, having his lunch and making the most of his time out in the community.

After lunch, we headed over to Pound Bakery, where we picked up some lovely sweet treats to enjoy. 🍩🍰 Simon also had something very important to do — choosing a card and a gift for his niece’s upcoming birthday! 🎁🎂

When we returned to Scotia Heights, Simon proudly wrote out his niece’s birthday card and carefully wrapped her present, making sure everything was ready for her special day next week. 💌🎁

Days like today are so important as they provide opportunities for Simon to make his own choices, practise independence, engage with the community and maintain meaningful relationships with the people who are important to him. ❤️

From choosing what he wanted for lunch and picking out his sweet treats, to selecting a special birthday gift and preparing it himself, Simon was supported to take the lead in his day and enjoy meaningful, everyday experiences.

A lovely morning full of independence, choice, community involvement and family connections. 🥰👏
