A very special farewell for Bernard.

With the family’s permission, we wanted to share a few photos from Bernard’s funeral.

Bernard had spent part of his working life helping to build fire engines, so having one there on the day was a really fitting and personal tribute to that part of his life.

It was a privilege for David, and the Arlington team to look after Bernard and his family.

Our thoughts remain with Sue, Stuart and everyone who knew and loved him.

A little something for St Saviour's Church 💙

We spent a bit of time yesterday clearing some weeds and tidying the pavement around St Saviour’s Church.

St Saviour’s means a lot to us at Arlington. We’re close by, work closely with the church and have built a lovely relationship over the years.

Smallthorne has been good to us, so when there’s a little job we can help with, we’re happy to contribute.

It’s only a small thing, but it’s nice to be able to give a little something back to the community that has supported us.

You trust your funeral director with your loved one. But who do they answer to?

A little reassurance about choosing a funeral director.

Recent events involving a funeral director elsewhere in the country have understandably caused concern, and perhaps made families think a little more carefully about who they are placing their trust in.

We don't want to dwell on the negatives, because the vast majority of funeral directors are hardworking, decent people who care deeply about the families they look after.

But we do think it's worth reminding people that there are things you can look for when choosing a funeral director.

At Arlington, we are proud to be members of both the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD) and SAIF – The National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors.

Being members of both organisations is relatively uncommon. Each has its own standards, codes of practice and requirements for its members, giving families another layer of reassurance that the funeral director they have chosen is accountable to recognised professional bodies.

For us, membership isn't something we put on a certificate and forget about. It's part of making sure we continue to provide the standard of care that families in Stoke-on-Trent and Newcastle-under-Lyme have trusted Arlington to provide for many years.

Ultimately, choosing a funeral director comes down to trust.

Ask questions. Look at their reputation. Read what families who have used them have said. And don't be afraid to ask what professional organisations they belong to.

When your family is relying on someone at one of the most difficult times in their lives, you deserve to know that you're in safe hands.

David "Ode" Hawkins was a lifelong Stoke City supporter.

Family, friends and fellow Potters came together to give him the send off he deserved. David's final journey was a fitting tribute to a man who was loved by so many.

Our thoughts remain with David's family and friends, and we'd like to thank them for allowing us to share this special farewell.

We don't often share personal messages, but with Kelly's permission, we'd like to share this heartfelt letter she sent following her Grandad Denis' funeral.

Every family we have the privilege of caring for leaves a lasting impression on us, and receiving words like these means a great deal to David and everyone at Arlington. Thank you, Kelly, for taking the time to write such a thoughtful letter. ❤️

Oliver - Business Relations

Oliver joined Arlington Funeral Directors in 2018, becoming the second generation of the family to be part of the business.

Since then, he's gained experience across many areas of Arlington, helping support families while playing a key role in the company's continued growth and development.

Before returning to Arlington, Oliver spent time living and working in Sydney, Australia, where he worked within the funeral profession. The experience allowed him to see different approaches to funeral care while reinforcing the values that have always been at the heart of Arlington, providing families with a personal, honest and compassionate service.

Today, alongside his work at Arlington, Oliver conducts intimate farewell services and personal tributes for families choosing Arlington Direct Cremation Plus.

Outside of work, Oliver enjoys keeping active and making the most of his free time. He spends a lot of his time training, staying fit and enjoying the outdoors. He also enjoys travelling, reading and spending quality time with his family and friends.

Looking after Marni and being there for her family was an honour we won't ever forget, and they will always stay in our hearts.

Seeing them create the Amarni Jessica Rose Foundation is so special. It's a beautiful way to celebrate Marni, and we know how much love will go into it.

If you have a moment, please give their page a follow and share it with your family and friends. Every little bit of support will help them as they begin this journey and continue building something truly meaningful in Marni's memory.

Sending all our love to Steph, Zacc, Rih, Meg and all of the family. Thank you for trusting us to care for your beautiful girl. ❤️
