✨ A little look behind the scenes at today’s clinic set-up…
Today’s Occupational Therapy assessment was exploring a query of Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), but an OT assessment is about much more than looking at motor skills alone: We’re interested in how a young person’s skills impact the things they need and want to do every day.

That might include:
💜 Handwriting and recording work
💙 Dressing and other self-care tasks
🧡 Organisation and managing everyday routines
💛 Confidence and participation at home, school and in the community

And while the young person is busy with their assessment, there’s a comfy spot for parents too! ☕🛋️ Parents are always welcome to stay, watch, ask questions and be part of the process, or simply sit back and let us get on with it.

Assessment isn't just about finding out what is difficult — it’s about understanding why it matters in everyday life.

We’re looking forward to joining Hinckley SC this Thursday!

Hayley & Cheryl will be delivering an Introduction to Neurodiversity & Communication, with practical strategies to help create a more neuro-inclusive swimming environment.

This Thursday, we’re pleased to be welcoming Petals Therapy to Hinckley Swimming Club to deliver an Introduction to Neurodiversity & Communication training session for our helpers.

The session will begin to explore neurodiversity, sensory processing and communication, with some practical strategies to help us better understand and support the different needs of our swimmers.

📅 Thursday 3rd September
📍 Hinckley Leisure Centre
⏰ Arrival from 6:45pm | 7:00pm start

If you volunteer with HSC, you should already have received information about the session.

The training is open to all of our coaches, swimming teachers, young assistant coaches, team managers, liaisons and officials — so if you haven’t received the details but would like to attend, please get in touch!

A little belated, but no less deserved... 🩷

The end of the school term was so busy that we never managed to squeeze in our usual team get together. So today we finally pressed pause, enjoyed a lovely lunch at Buttercream Tearoom and spent some time catching up away from the clinic.

Looking after my team is one of my biggest priorities. Making sure they feel valued, supported and appreciated is so important to me, because when we look after each other, we're in the best position to support the children, families and schools we work with every day.

Nicola couldn't join us today as she's enjoying some well deserved quality time with her family, but she was certainly missed. 💕

I'm incredibly grateful for this team and everything they do. Here's to continuing to grow, support one another, and provide the very best care for the families we work with. 💐✨
