Holidays πβοΈπ΄
A time to step away from the demands of everyday. Holidays are a chance to put down work & enjoy family time, to relax or get away from 'it all'.
With having a holiday you increase expectations of yourself, others and the environment around you,
To not get ill,
To make memories
To be 'just right'.
Having these higher expectations creates feeling of unease which can manifest as,
Feeling upset or tearful,
Feeling stressed,
Being irritable
Increased anxiety,
Feeling taken for granted,
Feeling unrested.
This can lead to thoughts such as
I need a week off to recover from my week off,
I didn't do everything I wanted to do,
What a waste of a week,
I've missed out because of being ill,
I haven't done enough.
Reframe - what are the postives from your holiday?
Practise gratitude - I'm really pleased we/I......
Focus on what you can control and the good stuff from the holiday.
Release - remember there are things, people and circumstances out of your control and choosing to let this go helps you to look forward more positively.
Go gently,
