🌿 New Alcohol Support Clinic at Langabhat Medical Practice 🌿
We’re pleased to be working in partnership with the Western Isles Substance Team to offer a new monthly Alcohol Liaison Clinic at our Leurbost surgery.

💬 What is the clinic for?
This clinic is designed to support anyone who would like help with their alcohol use. It offers:

Friendly, confidential advice
Health checks
Practical support and guidance
A safe, non-judgemental space to talk

Whether you’re looking to cut down, gain advice, or are concerned about your alcohol use or someone else’s, we’re here to help.

🔍 Looking ahead
If the clinic proves successful, we hope to expand the service and make it available at our other surgeries in the future.

I had to pop into Stornoway this afternoon as I had to get a prescription filled. So I went to KJ Macdonald Ltd, and not only are they a great pharmacy, they also have a lovely range of gifts, including a selection of my makes as well.

Local support for individuals and families impacted by someone's alcohol and drug use

The Outer Hebrides Alcohol and Drug Partnership (OHADP) in collaboration with NHS Substance Service have responded to the growing concerns within the local community, with the development and provision of two Outreach hubs for individuals who have been negatively impacted by alcohol and drugs.

The Outreach team provides essential practical, emotional and social support within two locations, based at Leverburgh Community Hub, Leverburgh in Harris and Cearns Community Hub, Cearn Shulasgeir, Stornoway.

Staff will be on site at the times listed below. They can provide harm reduction advice, including Naloxone training and supply, in reducing risks of fatal overdose from op**te based drugs. Information and testing for blood borne viruses and information/signposting to other useful local and national services.

The Lewis and Harris team currently offers three free drop-in clinics a month with no referral or prior contact required.

We offer a friendly and welcoming opportunity for informal conversations regarding any concerns you may have about your own, or a loved one's, alcohol or drug use.

For those preferring to have a more confidential conversation, inform one of the team, who can arrange a private area offering more privacy.

The service can also be emailed on [email protected] to arrange a telephone call back from the team. Please provide your name and telephone contact details and one of the workers will arrange a suitable date and time for a chat.
