Fresh off his win, our Chef of the Year 2026 is back at The Gables!

Just one day after his fantastic win at the Cinnamon Care Collection annual You Make The Difference Awards, Head Chef Dwight proudly brought his trophy into the home to show residents and tell them all about his exciting day yesterday.

Residents were delighted to see Dwight’s trophy and hear all about the day, showing just how proud they, and everyone at The Gables, are of him!

And, of course, he couldn’t have done it without his fellow Black Country Brother, Nigel from Eastcote Park! Together, they were crowned Cinnamon Care Collection’s Chef of the Year 2026!

Chef of the Year!

A huge congratulations to our Head Chef Dwight, who took part in Cinnamon Care Collection’s Chef of the Year competition alongside Nigel, Head Chef at Eastcote Park Retirement Village & Care Home.

The pair, affectionately known as the Black Country Brothers, were one of just three teams from across the collection to battle it out in the kitchen earlier this year.

The Gables team are all dressed up and ready to head off to the You Make The Difference Awards!

After weeks of counting down, the big day has finally arrived, and we’re incredibly proud of everyone representing The Gables today.

We’ll be cheering loudly, keeping everything crossed and, most importantly, celebrating our fantastic team!

And finally, our Spirit of Cinnamon nominees!

The Spirit of Cinnamon Award is a very special recognition, celebrating a department that consistently goes above and beyond, truly showcases the Spirit of Cinnamon and embodies the values of the Cinnamon Care Collection.

This year, our interim General Manager Mark has nominated the entire Gables team!

It’s a wonderful recognition of the commitment, care and teamwork shown across our home, and we couldn’t be prouder that the whole team has been recognised in this way.

Tomorrow, Deputy Manager Amy and Team Leader Vicky will be representing everyone at The Gables at the You Make The Difference Awards.

The countdown to the You Make The Difference Awards continues!

Next up, we’re celebrating our wonderful Head Housekeeper, Nicola, who will be representing The Gables at Wednesday’s awards ceremony!

The countdown to the You Make The Difference Awards is on!

On Wednesday, some of our wonderful team members will be heading to the Cinnamon Care Collection awards, and we’ll be introducing each of them over the next few days.

First up, our very own Head Chef, Dwight!

Back in May Dwight teamed up with Eastcote Park Retirement Village & Care Home Head Chef Nigel, forming one half of the legendary Black Country Brothers, to take part in Cinnamon’s Chef of the Year competition. The duo were one of just three teams from across the Cinnamon Care Collection who battled it out in the kitchen during the finals back in May.

Since then, they’ve been patiently waiting to find out who took home the title… and the wait is almost over!

The winners will be announced during Wednesday’s awards ceremony, and we’ll all be rooting for Dwight and Nigel!

Adventure, inspiration, and a powerful message 💛

We were delighted to welcome Cinnamon Care Collection Ambassador and world record breaker Louis Alexander to The Gables for two inspiring sessions, one for our residents and one for members of our local community.

Louis shared stories from his incredible adventures and mission to raise awareness and support for dementia care, leaving everyone inspired, informed, and with plenty to talk about. 🌍✨

Ceativity, colour, and a bit of love.

Residents from our Clent and Malvern communities enjoyed getting creative together, making beautiful handmade cards and sharing plenty of conversation along the way. One resident even made a special anniversary card for his wife, ready to give her when she next visited.

Activities like this encourage creativity, connection, and a real sense of achievement, making every moment meaningful.
